A chemical confirmation of the faint Bootes II dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy
We present a chemical abundance study of the brightest confirmed member star of the ultrafaint dwarf galaxy Bootes II from Keck/HIRES high-resolution spectroscopy at moderate signal-to-noise ratios. At [Fe/H] = -2.93 +/- 0.03 (stat.) +/- 0.17 (sys.) this

Chemical enrichment and accretion of nitrogen-loud quasars [PDF]
We present rest-frame optical spectra of 12 “nitrogen-loud” quasars at z ~ 2.2, whose rest-frame ultraviolet (UV) spectra show strong nitrogen broad emission lines. To investigate their narrow-line region (NLR) metallicities, we measure the equivalent width (EW) of the [O iii]λ5007 emission line: if the NLR metallicity is remarkably high, as suggested ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Element Nucleosynthetic Origins from Abundance Spatial Distributions beyond the Milky Way
An element’s astrophysical origin should be reflected in the spatial distribution of its abundance, yielding measurably different spatial distributions for elements with different nucleosynthetic sites.

On the Use of the Multi-Site Langmuir Model for Predicting Methane Adsorption on Shale
Shale gas, mainly consisting of adsorbed gas and free gas, has served a critical role of supplying the growing global natural gas demand in the past decades. Considering that the adsorbed methane has contributed up to 80% of the total gas in place (GIP),

We present a chemical-composition analysis of 77 red-giant stars in Omega Centauri. We have measured abundances for carbon and nitrogen, and combined our results with abundances of O, Na, La, and Fe that we determined in our previous work.

Probing the evolution of early-type cluster galaxies through chemical enrichment [PDF]
A simple chemical enrichment model for cluster early-type galaxies is described in which the mechanisms considered in the evolutionary model are infall of primordial gas, outflows and a possible variation in the star formation efficiency.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Evidence of Early Enrichment of the Galactic Disk by Large-Scale Winds
Large-scale homogeneous surveys of Galactic stars may indicate that the elemental abundance gradient evolves with cosmic time, a phenomenon that was not foreseen in existing models of Galactic chemical evolution (GCE).
