Molecules in Bipolar Outflows

open access: yes, 2012
Bipolar outflows constitute some of the best laboratories to study shock chemistry in the interstellar medium. A number of molecular species have their abundance enhanced by several orders of magnitude in the outflow gas, likely as a combined result of ...

Reactive molecular dynamics simulations of organometallic compound W(CO)6 fragmentation

open access: yes, 2019
Irradiation- and collision-induced fragmentation studies provide information about geometry, electronic properties and interactions between structural units of various molecular systems. Such knowledge brings insights into irradiation-driven chemistry of

Unique Lewis and Bronsted acidic sites texture in the selective production of tetrahydropyran and oxepanefrom1,5-pentanediol and 1,6-hexanediol over sustainable red brick clay catalyst

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Activated red brick (ARB) clay material proved superb catalyst for selective conversion of 1,5-pentanediol (1,5-PDO) to tetrahydropyran (THP) and 1,6-hexanediol (1,6-HDO) to oxepane (OP) via dehydration under vapor phase conditions in a continuous flow ...

Tracing the Physical Conditions in Active Galactic Nuclei with Time-Dependent Chemistry

open access: yes, 2013
We present an extension of the code ProDiMo that allows for a modeling of processes pertinent to active galactic nuclei and to an ambient chemistry that is time dependent. We present a proof-of-concept and focus on a few astrophysically relevant species,

Influence of stacked structure of carbons modified on its surface on n-pentane adsorption

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
In this study, the microstructure of a series of activated carbons modified on its chemistry surface was evaluated from X-ray diffraction and porous structure analysis, and the effect of the stacked graphitic structure on the n-pentane adsorption ...

Solid adenine and seawater salts exposed to gamma radiation: An FT-IR and EPR spectroscopy analysis for prebiotic chemistry

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Solids of adenine obtained from distilled water and seawater lyophilized solutions were γ irradiated at a 94.52 kGy dose. Results indicate that pure solid adenine had a low degradation rate, likewise the solid containing seawater salts.
