Antiviral chemokines: intracellular life of recombinant C-C chemokine RANTES.

Journal of human virology, 1999
Select C-C and C-X-C chemokines can suppress HIV infection. This is because their receptors are the gateways for HIV-1 entry, determinants of viral tropism and sensitivity. C-C chemokines are most effective against macrophage-tropic viruses, and C-X-C chemokines are most effective against T-tropic viruses.

Biological responses to C-C chemokines

1997
Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the methods to assess the biological activity of chemokines with focuses on assays using human cells. It outlines the generally preferred methods for each cell type. The assay widely used to characterize the activity of chemokines is the mobilization of intracellular calcium. All chemotactic factors described on

Chemokine (C‐C motif) ligand 2 and chemokine (C‐C motif) ligand 7 in angle‐closure glaucoma

Acta Ophthalmologica, 2015
AbstractPurposeTo compare the concentrations of chemokine (C‐C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2) and chemokine (C‐C motif) ligand 7 (CCL7) in aqueous humour of eyes with acute primary angle‐closure (APAC), primary angle‐closure glaucoma (PACG) or with age‐related cataract.MethodsThe prospective investigation included a study group of 56 patients (24 patients with

Biological assays for C-X-C chemokines

1997
Publisher Summary Chemokines play a major role in mobilizing leukocytes to ward off attacks by invading pathogens. Each of the two major classes of chemokines is selective for a particular group of immune cells. This chapter discusses the assays available to measure the biological activities of one of these groups of chemoattractants, the C-X-C ...
