Organ‐specific terpenoid responses in Tanacetum vulgare are chemotype‐dependent

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 5, Page 1437-1453, August 2026.
Common tansy varieties defend differently: some boost root chemicals against soil pests, while others release stronger leaf scents against aphids. Abstract Specialized metabolites such as terpenoids are known to mediate plant defence mechanisms. However, how terpenoid diversity governs inducible chemistry across organs remains poorly understood.

Sultams as Dual Inhibitors of Human Carbonic Anhydrase and Thioredoxin Reductase

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 14, 29 July 2026.
A series of sultam‐based N‐acyl derivatives with potential applications as dual TrxR1 and CA inhibitors were synthesized and evaluated. TrxR1 screening identified several active compounds, with inhibitory potency influenced by the type and orientation of substituents.

1‐Aryl‐6,7‐Dimethoxy‐3,4‐Dihydroisoquinoline‐2(1H)‐Sulfonamides as hCA XII Selective Inhibitors: Experimental and Theoretical Studies to Interrogate the Isoform Selectivity

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 14, 29 July 2026.
Experimental and theoretical studies have disclosed the more relevant structural requirements for effective inhibition and an impressing selectivity toward tumor‐expressed hCA XII isoform over hCA II. Human carbonic anhydrase XII (hCA XII) represents an important pharmacological target for different types of cancer.

Novel Inhibitors of Carbonic Anhydrase I and II Identified by High Throughput Virtual Screening and Validated by X‐Ray Crystallography

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 14, 29 July 2026.
High‐throughput virtual screening identifies novel carbonic anhydrase II ligands from large chemical libraries, enabling rapid hit discovery. Structural validation by X‐ray crystallography confirms the predicted binding modes and reveals key protein–ligand interactions.
