A Comparative Study of Cerebral Oxygenation During Exercise in Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment and exercise intolerance are common in dialysis patients. Cerebral perfusion and oxygenation play a major role in both cognitive function and exercise execution; HD session per se aggravates cerebral ischemia in this population. This study aimed to compare cerebral oxygenation and perfusion at rest and in mild

On a Logistic Approximation to the Normal and Other Cumulative Distribution Functions

open access: yesRecoletos Multidisciplinary Research Journal, 2014
This paper proposes an approach that maintains the simplicity of various approximations as well as having a closed- form algebraic inverse yet easily generalizable to the approximation of other cumulative distribution functions.

A proposal for a different chi-square function for Poisson distributions

open access: yes, 1999
We obtain an approximate Gaussian distribution from a Poisson distribution after doing a change of variable. A new chi-square function is obtained which can be used for parameter estimations and goodness-of-fit testing when adjusting curves to histograms.

Predicting the Future Burden of Renal Replacement Therapy in Türkiye Using National Registry Data and Comparative Modeling Approaches

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health problem worldwide, and the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is steadily increasing. Türkiye has experienced a similar rise in both the incidence and prevalence of renal replacement therapy over the past decades; however, national‐level projections of future ...

Biostatistics series module 4: Comparing groups - categorical variables

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, 2016
Categorical variables are commonly represented as counts or frequencies. For analysis, such data are conveniently arranged in contingency tables. Conventionally, such tables are designated as r × c tables, with r denoting number of rows and c denoting ...

A Method of CHI-square Feature Selection Based on Probability [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2016
Traditional CHI-square feature selection method does not take into account the category number of words in imbalanced data sets, the frequency of words, the intra-class and inter-class distribution of words,so that it fails to choose valid feature words ...

Properties and numerical evaluation of the Rosenblatt distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper studies various distributional properties of the Rosenblatt distribution. We begin by describing a technique for computing the cumulants. We then study the expansion of the Rosenblatt distribution in terms of shifted chi-squared distributions.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
