A novel, PCP‐dependent tissue organising principle coordinating morphogenesis between embryonic skin epidermal layers

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
‘Outside‐in’ expression of Fz6 across multiple layers of mouse embryo epidermis is connected to Fz6 asymmetry in the basal layer plane. Fz6 loss‐of‐function correlated with failure to: coordinate axial bias of cell long axis orientation across epidermal layers, switch axial cell long axis orientation during suprabasal layer development and establish ...

The Effects of Chicken Embryo Brain Extract on Sciatic Nerve Regeneration of Male Rat; An Experimental Study [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of Emergency and Trauma, 2018
Objective: To determine the effects of chicken embryo brain extract (BE) on transects sciatic nerve in male rats. Methods: Thirty adult male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 200 to 250 g, were randomized into three groups treated with (1) sham surgery, (2 ...

Development of the abdominal musculature in the chicken embryo

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
In this study, we investigate anatomy, morphogenesis, segmental origin, and fiber formation of the abdominal musculature in the chicken embryo. We show that abdominal muscles arise from somites 24 to 28, and that the segmental identity of individual fibers in the abdominal muscle sheets is maintained.

3D transparent technology displays the developmental patterns of ductus arteriosus morphology in chicken embryos before and after birth

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
At the eighth week of human embryonic development, 3D transparent imaging enables clear visualization of the outflow tract's morphological features, revealing its anatomical components in detail. Abstract The ductus arteriosus (DA) is a critical fetal vascular structure that shunts blood from the pulmonary artery to the aorta, bypassing the non ...

Post‐hatching development of the remote‐tactile bill‐tip organ in precocial shorebirds (Scolopacidae)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Juvenile scolopacid shorebirds possess well‐developed osteological correlates of tactile bill‐tip organs, indicating sensory systems for remote‐touch foraging are present from early life. Ontogenetic changes in bill‐tip morphology suggest ecological specialisation and interspecific variation develop later, after fledging in these highly precocial ...

Morphology-Based In-Ovo Sexing of Chick Embryos Utilizing a Low-Cost Imaging Apparatus and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnimals
The routine culling of male chicks in the laying hen industry raises significant ethical, animal welfare, and sustainability concerns. Current methods to determine chick embryo sex before hatching are costly, time-consuming, and invasive.

Effects of Broiler Breeder Age on Egg Quality, Incubation Performance, and Early Progeny Physiological and Muscle Fiber Development

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effects of breeder hen age on the incubation performance, embryonic development, and progeny quality of Cobb500 broiler breeders at 39, 51, and 69 weeks of age. A total of 870 eggs were collected, of which 810 were incubated; these were assigned to a completely randomized design with three treatments and nine ...

Maternal Dietary Inflammatory Index and Biomarkers of Inflammation at Birth

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We evaluated the association between the inflammatory potential of the maternal diet during pregnancy and levels of inflammatory biomarkers measured in cord blood and maternal serum at birth. Dietary inflammatory potential was calculated using the energy‐adjusted dietary inflammatory index (E‐DII) in the French EDEN and ELFE birth cohorts ...

Post vaccination myelitis in a young woman following administration of rabies chick embryo cell vaccine – a case report

open access: yesIMC Journal of Medical Science, 2012
A case of post-vaccination myelitis following administration of chick embryo cell rabies vaccine in a 20 year-old young lady is described. The case presented with paraplegia five days after receiving the third dose (on 12th day) of the vaccine for rabies.

Passive hyperthermia increases blood circulation in specific regions, largely independent of conduit artery mechanics and cardiac performance

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Passive hyperthermia increases net peripheral and systemic blood flow in humans and other animals, yet the underlying haemodynamic forces that selectively accelerate blood movement remain incompletely characterized. Wave intensity analysis offers insight into the respective contributions of the heart and the vascular system to changes in blood
