Influence of In Ovo Leptin Injection into Yolk Sac on Embryo Development, Blood Biochemical Parameters and Lipid Metabolism of Broiler Chicks during Early Post-Hatching Period

open access: yesYüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Tarim Bilimleri Dergisi, 2022
The study aimed to investigate the effect of in ovo (IO) leptin injection on yolk sac leptin concentration, embryo development, blood lipid metabolism, and biochemical parameters of broiler chicks during the early post-hatching period. Hatching eggs were

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

A detailed description of an economical setup for electroporation of chick embryos in ovo

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2013
One of the challenges of the postgenomic era is characterizing the function and regulation of specific genes. For various reasons, the early chick embryo can easily be adopted as an in vivo assay of gene function and regulation.

tBid‐Mediated Genetic Ablation of Connective Tissue Cells Reveals Their Key Regulatory Function During Limb Regeneration in Axolotls

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We establish a tBid‐mediated cell ablation system in axolotls, achieve rapid and efficient ablation of multiple cell types, including muscle stem cell, spinal cord cell, and connective tissue (CT) cells. We investigate the role of CT using tBid‐mediated CT ablation and identify its essential role for limb development and regeneration.

Lipid Metabolism in Chick Embryos

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1981
Embryonic lipids exhibit a more saturated fatty acid composition than the yolk lipids from which the embryo develops. Neither selective embryonic uptake of saturated fatty acids from yolk nor selective embryonic oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids appears to be a valid explanation for this observation.

Understanding Egg Price Volatility and Policy Implications in the U.S. With Machine Learning

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Eggs are an inexpensive and sustainable source of proteins, but volatility in the U.S. egg prices has intensified in recent years, raising concerns over food affordability and market stability. This study examines the drivers of U.S. egg price dynamics over 2004–2025 using a two‐stage framework that combines LASSO‐based variable selection with

Effects of Different Fertility Rates on Chick Quality and Hatching Parameters in Hatching Eggs

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2014
This study was conducted to investigate the hatching parameters differences between the hatching eggs which were controlled or not for fertility at 18th day of embryo development in the hatchery unit.

Results of hatching and rearing broiler chickens in different incubation systems

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
Hatchery efficiency is based on hatchability and the number of salable chicks. The hatchery sector has been seeking new alternatives to optimize production rates, including the use of different systems (multistage [MS] or single-stage [SS] machines) to ...

The 9th International RASopathies Symposium

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The RASopathies are a group of congenital disorders with overlapping clinical manifestations that are caused by pathogenic germline or early somatic variants that result in the hyperactivation of the RAS/mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway.
