MARK4 enhances stress granule formation under oxidative stress and increases tau accumulation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MARK4 (red dots) localizes to stress granules (orange dots) and promotes their formation under oxidative stress by modulating TIA1 (blue dots). MARK4 and TIA1 synergistically increase tau (purple) accumulation, and the reduction of the TIA1 ortholog suppresses neurodegeneration in a fly model.

Acute Toxicity and Hepatotoxicokinetic Studies of Tamarindus indica Extract

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
Tamarindus indica is widely used as a food and beverage and in traditional medicine. The apparent lack of dose standardization in herbal medicine necessitates the evaluation of the lethality T.

Virulence of Campylobacter jejuni for chicken embryos [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1989
The pathogenicity of Campylobacter jejuni was examined in chicken embryos. In this system, mortality data and histopathological findings induced by organisms and by bacterium-free filtered broth were identical. The absence in chicken embryo tissues both of organisms and of an inflammatory infiltrate suggests a toxin etiology.

TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 attenuates pulmonary fibroblast activation by suppressing mTOR and restoring autophagic flux

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TGF‐β1 stimulation downregulates lysosomal channel TRPML1 in pulmonary fibroblasts. The TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 suppressed fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast activation and collagen production. Mechanistically, ML‐SA5 inhibited mTOR phosphorylation, restored autophagic flux, and its effects were enhanced by rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor) and reversed by MHY1485 ...

Comparison of Hypothalamic Monoamine Contents of Broiler- and Layer- Type Chickens at Prehatch and Posthatch

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2003
Domestic chickens, which are precocial, have relatively well developed mechanisms of food intake regulation at hatch. Although their body weight is similar at hatch, broiler- and layer-type chickens have different growth rates and food intake following ...

Origins of Heteroploidy in Chicken Embryos

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1981
Abstract INTRODUCTION In man and the agriculturally important ungulates 25 to 40% of fertilized eggs do not result in living, healthy young. Losses occur as early embryonic deaths, abortions, stillbirths, or deaths of neonates. Most of the loss occurs at early developmental stages, i.e., as early embryo death.

Unraveling 4‐Phenylbutyrate's Therapeutic Role in SLC6A1 Disorders: Pharmacochaperoning Over HDAC Inhibition

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Variants in SLC6A1, encoding the GABA transporter 1 (GAT‐1), cause epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delay via loss of GABA uptake, impaired trafficking, and ER retention. We previously found that 4‐Phenylbutyrate (PBA), an FDA‐approved drug, restores GABA uptake and reduces seizures in SLC6A1‐related disorders ...

The biodistribution of polystyrene nanoparticles administered intravenously in the chicken embryo

open access: yesEnvironment International
Nanoplastics can cause severe malformations in chicken embryos. To improve our understanding of the toxicity of nanoplastics to embryos, we have studied their biodistribution in living chicken embryos.

STUDIES ON INFECTIOUS LARYNGOTRACHEITIS VIRUS VACCINE II- THE EFFECT OF INCUBATION TEMPERATURE ON THE PATHOGENICITY OF I.L.T. VIRUS (FOR CHICKEN EMBRYOS INOCULATED BY THE ALLANTOIC SAC ROUTE) [PDF]

open access: yesAssiut Veterinary Medical Journal, 1991
The incubation of chicken embryos inoculated with original vaccinal strain at different temperature 34°C, 37°C and 40°C had a considerable influence on the pathogenicity of virus inoculated embryos: 1- The mortality index for chicken embryos (MICE) of ...

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...
