An Anti‐Amyloidogenic Approach to Specifically Block Memory Consolidation in Mice for Therapeutic Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Functional amyloid conversion of the translation regulator CPEB3 is essential for long‐term memory persistence. This study demonstrates that targeting this molecular switch with the anti‐amyloidogenic peptide QBP1 selectively blocks CPEB3 fibrillation without disrupting phase separation.

In vivo imaging reveals novel replication sites of a highly oncogenic avian herpesvirus in chickens.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2022
In vivo bioluminescence imaging facilitates the non-invasive visualization of biological processes in living animals. This system has been used to track virus infections mostly in mice and ferrets; however, until now this approach has not been applied to

Gonadotropin‐Inhibitory Hormone (GnIH) and Its Receptor GPR147 Mediates Acute Stress‐Induced Activation of the Locus Coeruleus‐SAM Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gonadotropin‐inhibitory hormone (GnIH, also known as RFamide‐related peptide‐3, RFRP‐3) is a hypothalamic neuropeptide that regulates vertebrate reproduction via its receptor GPR147. Although GnIH is known to mediate stress‐induced reproductive suppression, its role in broader stress responses remains unclear.

Scaffold combination of chitosan and collagen synthesized from chicken feet induces osteoblast and osteoprotegerin expression in bone healing process of mice

open access: yesDental Journal, 2017
Background: Over 500.000 of the 2,3 million surgical treatments requiring bone grafting procedures that are performed annually are likely to be necessitated by or will result in bone defects that will not regenerate.

Evolutionary relationships of Red Jungle Fowl and chicken breeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Published results were reassessed and original data are provided regarding the origin and relatedness of four postulated chicken breed lineages, egg-type, game, meat-type and Bantam, to each other and to the basic ancestral species of jungle fowls ...

In Situ Genetic Engineering Facilitates MMP‐9‐Responsive TIMP1 Release Through Proteolytic Cleavage to Boost Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops an MMP‐9‐responsive protein release system that transforms resident cells into drug depots through in situ genetic engineering. Anchored to the membrane, the therapeutic protein TIMP1 is selectively released upon MMP‐9 cleavage.

Interlayer‐Sliding‐Enabled Multiferroicity and Giant Switchable Anomalous Hall Conductivity in RuO2Zn2F2 Bilayer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interlayer sliding in the RuO2Zn2F2 bilayer induces ferroelectricity and enables reversible valley polarization switching. The electric dipole and valley‐resolved band edges are intimately coupled, revealing sliding ferroelectricity as a powerful mechanism for electrical control of valley degrees of freedom in 2D materials.

Phase‐Resolved Dual Control of Phenol Photodissociation at the Air–Water Interface From Structure‐Resolved Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Faster phenol photolysis at the air–water interface arises from two cooperative factors: a more favorable initial microenvironment for solvent‐side electron stabilization, which lowers CI access, and a more labile hydrogen‐bond network, which more readily reorganizes to stabilize the dark‐state intermediate.

Engineered Brain‐Targeted Exosomes Delivering FGF1 for Sustained Glycemic Regulation and Multitarget Neurovascular Protection in Diabetic Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetic stroke is characterized by a hyperglycemic and pro‐inflammatory microenvironment that exacerbates neurovascular dysfunction. However, the blood–brain barrier (BBB) remains a formidable obstacle, restricting the delivery of most therapeutic molecules.
