Molecular Epidemiology and Pathogenic Characterization of Novel Chicken Infectious Anemia Viruses in Henan Province of China

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
Chicken infectious anemia (CIA) is an immunosuppressive disease caused by the chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV) resulting in heavy economic losses once an outbreak is established.

Development and Application of an MRT-qPCR Assay for Detecting Coinfection of Six Vertically Transmitted or Immunosuppressive Avian Viruses

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Marek’s disease virus (MDV), reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV), avian reovirus (ARV), chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV), infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV), and fowl adenovirus (FAdV) are important causes of disease in poultry.

Source Tracking of Chicken Infectious Anemia Virus in a SPF Chicken Population, the Latest Report in China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Abstract BackgroundLive attenuated vaccines have been extensively used to prevent infectious disease in poultry flocks. However, exogenous virus contamination in attenuated vaccines had been reported several times in the past, which brought enormous threat to poultry production and diseases prevention and control.

Getah Virus: A New Contaminant in Veterinary Vaccines

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
Mycoplasma, reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV), avian leukosis virus (ALV), chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV), bovine polyomavirus (BPV), bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV), and porcine circovirus (PCV) are considered common contaminants in live ...

Identification of chicken anemia virus putative intergenotype recombinants

open access: yes, 2007
Chicken anemia virus (CAV), the only member of the genus Gyrovirus in the family Circoviridae is the pathogen of chicken infectious anemia. It is unknown whether homologous recombination happens between CAV strains.

Isolation and Molecular Characteristics of a CIAV Isolate From Pigeons, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2021
Chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV) mainly infects chickens and causes immunosuppression. In this study, a CIAV isolate, designated as Pigeon-CIAV-1906, was efficiently isolated from two sick pigeons by inoculating the samples into MSB1 cells.

Histidine Supplementation Stabilizes Hearing and Vision and Improves Growth in HARS1‐Related Autosomal Recessive Disorder Associated With Usher‐Like Symptoms

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autosomal recessive HARS1‐related disorder (originally described as Usher syndrome type 3B) caused by a homozygous Y454S variant in the histidyl‐tRNA synthetase gene (HARS1) is characterized by progressive sensorineural hearing and vision loss and respiratory deterioration with risk for sudden death following febrile illnesses.

The Role of miRNAs in Chicken Immune Regulation and Prospects for Disease‐Resistant Breeding

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
A schematic workflow illustrating the screening of disease‐resistant miRNAs and the generation of miRNA‐based disease‐resistant chickens via PGC‐mediated germline genome editing. ABSTRACT MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are emerging as pivotal regulators of the immune system, playing a decisive role in shaping disease resistance in chicken.

Pathology and molecular characterization of chicken infectious anemia virus and in silico antigen prediction

open access: yesAnimal Biotechnology, 2023
The present study investigated five poultry flocks (size 142-600 birds) suspected of chicken infectious anemia (CIA) from Maharashtra, India. The necropsy of dead birds revealed severe atrophy of the thymus, gelatinization of bone marrow, subcutaneous hemorrhages, growth impairment, and severe anemia.
