Lessons learned exploiting a multi‐year large‐scale data set derived from operational quality assessment of mosquito larval treatments in rain catch basins

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 10, Page 6630-6638, October 2025.
Results highlight opposite associations between percentages of positive rain catch basins treated with diflubenzuron and Bacillus against mosquito larvae and/or pupae and the intervals between treatments and inspections, and spatial variability in vector control.

Accurate Recapitulation of Chikungunya Virus Complete Coding Sequence Phylogeny Using Variable Genome Regions for Genomic Surveillance

open access: yesViruses
Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is transmitted by mosquito bites and causes chikungunya fever (CHIKF). CHIKV has a single-stranded RNA genome and belongs to a single serotype with three genotypes.

Chikungunya Virus as Cause of Febrile Illness Outbreak, Chiapas, Mexico, 2014

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2015
Since chikungunya virus (CHIKV) was introduced into the Americas in 2013, its geographic distribution has rapidly expanded. Of 119 serum samples collected in 2014 from febrile patients in southern Mexico, 79% were positive for CHIKV or IgM against CHIKV.

Long-term persistence of serum IgM antibodies against chikungunya virus in patients with chronic arthralgia

open access: yesVirology Journal
Background Anti-Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) IgM antibodies may persist for months after infection in some individuals, but the evidence is limited, and their exact duration remains unknown.

In silico analysis of MHC-I restricted epitopes of Chikungunya virus proteins: Implication in understanding anti-CHIKV CD8+ T cell response and advancement of epitope based immunotherapy for CHIKV infection

open access: yesInfection, Genetics and Evolution, 2015
Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borne Alphavirus, responsible for acute febrile infection. The high morbidity and socio-economic loss associated with the recent CHIKV epidemics worldwide have raised a great public health concern and emphasize the need to study the immunological basis of CHIKV infection to control the disease.

No chikungunya virus infections among Dutch long-term travellers to (sub)tropical countries: a prospective study 2008–2011

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2019
Background Chikungunya is an arthropod-borne viral disease now identified in over 60 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) has spread in the last 15 years to many countries, causing large local outbreaks.
