Seroprevalence of Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV) Infection on Lamu Island, Kenya, October 2004

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2008
An outbreak of Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) disease associated with high fever and severe protracted arthralgias was detected in Lamu, Kenya, peaking in July 2004. At least 1,300 cases were documented. We conducted a seroprevalence study to define the magnitude of transmission on Lamu Island. We conducted a systematic cross-sectional survey.

Vathasura Kudineer, an Andrographis based polyherbal formulation exhibits immunomodulation and inhibits chikungunya virus (CHIKV) under in vitro conditions

Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2023
Chikungunya disease (CHIKD) is caused by the alphavirus, chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and is characterized by acute fever and joint inflammation; the inflammation continues even after clearance of the virus from the system, persisting for several months to years. Currently, there are no modern medicines/vaccines available for its treatment and use of over-

Antibodies against chikungunya virus structural proteins reveal the presence of CHIKV virions in migrasomes

Journal of Immunological Methods
Chikungunya fever (CHIKF) is a viral illness transmitted by mosquitoes, caused by the chikungunya virus (CHIKV), which has led to millions of infections globally. Antibodies against CHIKV serve as essential tools for research on this virus. In this study, we designed peptides corresponding to the E1, E2, E3, and capsid proteins of CHIKV to immunize New

Proteomic profiling of chikungunya virus-infected human muscle cells: Reveal the role of cytoskeleton network in CHIKV replication

Journal of Proteomics, 2014
Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an arthropod-borne, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus belonging to genus Alphavirus and family Togaviridae. The clinical manifestations developed upon CHIKV-infection include fever, myositis, arthralgia and maculopapular rash. Thus, the re-emergence of CHIKV has posed serious health threats worldwide.
