Photosynthetic responses to chilling in a chilling‐tolerant and chilling‐sensitive
AbstractMiscanthusis a C4perennial grass being developed for bioenergy production in temperate regions where chilling events are common. To evaluate chilling effects onMiscanthus,we assessed the processes controlling net CO2assimilation rate (A) inMiscanthus x giganteus(M161) and a chilling‐sensitiveMiscanthushybrid (M115) before and after a chilling ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The ultra-rapid chilling of lamb carcasses [PDF]
End of Project ReportThe practice in Irish commercial abattoirs is to chill lamb carcasses for a period of approximately 16 hours at 2 - 4°C, at which stage the core temperature of the carcass has reached 7°C.

The effect of chilling on diurnal changes in activity of adenosine 5′-phosphosulfate sulfotransferase, glutathione reductase (EC 1.6.4.2) and glutathione transferase (EC 2.5.1.18) was analysed in the second leaf of Z 7, a chilling-tolerant, and ...

Suppressing the Chills: Effects of Musical Manipulation on the Chills Response [PDF]
Research on musical chills has linked the response to multiple musical features; however, there exists no study that has attempted to manipulate musical stimuli to enable causal inferences, meaning current understanding is based mainly on correlational evidence.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Freeze-chilling and gas flushing of raw fish fillets [PDF]
End of Project ReportFreeze-chilling involves freezing and frozen storage followed by thawing and chilled storage. Trials with whiting and mackerel fillets/portions (Part 1) indicated no difference in odour scores (raw samples) between freeze-chilled and
