Human longevity is associated with regular sleep patterns, maintenance of slow wave sleep, and favorable lipid profile [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Some individuals are able to successfully reach very old ages, reflecting higher adaptation against age-associated effects. Sleep is one of the processes deeply affected by aging; however few studies evaluating sleep in long-lived individuals (aged over ...

NT‐proBNP With Postoperative Complications and 2‐Year Mortality Among Hip Fracture Patients: An Observational Cohort Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 368-381, February 2026.
Preoperative NT‐proBNP is strongly associated with both postoperative complications and 2‐year all‐cause mortality among patients who received hip fracture surgery. Higher levels of NT‐proBNP before surgery may serve as a useful biomarker for risk stratification and guiding treatment decisions for this patient subpopulation.

Genetic Variation in the CYP2C Monooxygenase Enzyme Subfamily Shows No Association With Longevity in a German Population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Cytochrome P450 enzymes, especially the CYP2C subfamily, are involved in the generation of reactive oxygen species and are regarded as susceptibility factors for age-related diseases.

Medicago Sativa L. Saponin‐Driven Lactobacillus Intestinalis Restores Intestinal Stemness in Naturally Aged Mice via the Bile Acid‐FXR‐Wnt Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 4, 19 January 2026.
This study examines the mechanism by which alfalfa saponin (AS) regulates intestinal stemness via modulation of the gut microbiota. The results indicate that AS significantly increases the abundance of Lactobacillus intestinalis, which subsequently activates Wnt signaling via bile acid metabolism and enhances intestinal stemness. These findings provide
