An enhanced positioning scheme for chirp spread spectrum ranging
Expert Systems With Applications, 2010In this paper, we propose an algorithm for acquiring enhanced position coordinates when using the chirp spread spectrum (CSS) specified in IEEE 802.15.4a. Because the measured distances are generally perturbed by measurement noise, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) can be applied to trilateration to treat the variation in the measured distances due to ...

A Circuit Design for Ranging Measurement Using Chirp Spread Spectrum Waveform
This paper reports an RF circuit design for indoor localization using wireless chirp spread spectrum waveform. First we address the technical problems of existing hardware systems and then point out dominant factors of the ranging circuit.

A new filtering method for chirp spread spectrum
Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Management and Communication, 2009In this paper, we propose a new filtering method for performance enhancement of chirp spread spectrum (CSS) in the IEEE 802.15.4a standard. The CSS signals are composed of low- and high-band signals which are alternatively transmitted in time-domain. A new dual-band filtering method proposed in this paper is based on two filters which are designed to ...

Simultaneous amplitude measurement of multiple Chirp Spread Spectrum signals
2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2020In this paper, the Chirp Spread Spectrum technique is presented as a mean to consent simultaneous amplitude measurement of different signals. The scalability and the achievable accuracy are explored using simulations. It is shown that the proposed approach is quite scalable and consents accurate characterization of signals with very different ...

Interference Analysis for LoRa Chirp Spread Spectrum Signals
2019 IEEE Canadian Conference of Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE), 2019LoRa modulation is a modulation scheme patented by SemTech that uses chirp spread spectrum (CSS) signals to modulate data. This paper analyzes the interference between those signals for different spreading factors (SFs) and bandwidths (BWs). First, principles and properties of LoRa modulation and demodulation in discrete-time domain are presented ...

Filtering Algorithms for Chirp-Spread-Spectrum Ranging
2013The wireless networks based on the IEEE 802.15.4a CSS (chirp-spread-spectrum) PHY are expected to provide accurate ranging. However, the problem is that the measured distances are not only noisy but also biased, which becomes more serious in non-line-of-sight situation.

On the application of chirp modulation in spread spectrum communication systems
Proceedings of the Sixth International Symposium on Signal Processing and its Applications (Cat.No.01EX467), 2002The paper presents a novel method of enhancing the interference immunity of a direct sequence spread spectrum system. The method is based on applying a chirp signal to modulate the spreaded sequence. At the receiver we apply a time varying filter to recover the transmitted signal.

Chirp Spread Spectrum Modulation for Intrabody Nanoscale Communication and Sensing
2021 17th International Conference on Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems (DCOSS), 2021Optical signals are commonly used for intrabody applications, such as nano-bio-sensing and imaging and, more recently, nanoscale communication. However, due to the interaction of light with the building blocks of different body tissues, including different types of cells, organelles, and molecular components, the intrabody channel is highly frequency ...

Spectral Efficiency Improvement of Chirp Spread Spectrum Systems
2019 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC), 2019The chirp spread spectrum (CSS) systems use various chirp signals for spreading the transmission bandwidth. Although spreading the transmission bandwidth can improve the transmission performance in jamming and fading environments, the CSS systems should also consider spectral efficiency. Thus, in this paper, we propose a spectral efficiency improvement
