Group I LPMO15‐1 cDNAs from two economically important forest insect pests, M. alternatus and P. hilaris, were cloned. MaLPMO15‐1 and PhLPMO15‐1 show a similar pattern of expression during late stages of development. RNAi for LPMO15‐1 causes failure of adult eclosion in both M. alternatus and P. hilaris.

Chitooligosaccharides enzymatic production by Metarhizium anisopliae
The products of chitosan hydrolysis are chitooligosaccharides and are used mainly for medical applications due to their specific biological activities. The objective of this study was to detect and identify the products of enzymatic hydrolysis of chitosan (dimers to hexamers) using a crude extract of chitosanolytic enzymes produced by the fungus ...

Determination of the Deacetylation Degree of Chitooligosaccharides [PDF]
The methods for determination of chitosan content recommended in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia and the European Pharmacopoeia are not applicable for evaluation of the extent of deacetylation (deacetylation degree, DD) in chitooligosaccharides (COS). This study explores two different methods for assessment of DD in COS having relatively high and low ...

Current Perspectives on Chitinolytic Enzymes and Their Agro-Industrial Applications
Chitinases are a large and diversified category of enzymes that break down chitin, the world’s second most prevalent polymer after cellulose. GH18 is the most studied family of chitinases, even though chitinolytic enzymes come from a variety of glycosyl ...

Fermented and enzymatic production of chitin/chitosan oligosaccharides by extracellular chitinases from Bacillus cereus TKU027 [PDF]
[[abstract]]Two chitinases, Chi I and Chi II, were purified from the culture supernatant of Bacillus cereus TKU027 with shrimp head powder (SHP) as the sole carbon/nitrogen source.

At the nexus of three kingdoms: the genome of the mycorrhizal fungus Gigaspora margarita provides insights into plant, endobacterial and fungal interactions. [PDF]
As members of the plant microbiota, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF, Glomeromycotina) symbiotically colonize plant roots. AMF also possess their own microbiota, hosting some uncultivable endobacteria.

Antidiabetic Effect and Mechanism of Chitooligosaccharides
The aim of this study was to observe the antidiabetic effect and mechanism of chitooligosaccharides (COS). Type 2 diabetic rats were fed a high-energy diet together with an injection of streptozotocin (STZ). After 8 weeks of COS treatment, the changes in glycometabolism, insulin sensitivity, serum hepatic marker enzyme levels, liver glycogen content ...

Enzymatic Modification of Native Chitin and Conversion to Specialty Chemical Products
Chitin is one of the most abundant biomolecules on earth, occurring in crustacean shells and cell walls of fungi. While the polysaccharide is threatening to pollute coastal ecosystems in the form of accumulating shell-waste, it has the potential to be ...
