Diffusion of Lead Ions in Potassium Chloride

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1963
The diffusion of Pb++ ions in single crystal KCl has been studied over the temperature range, 200°—475°C. A radioactive tracer technique has been used in two types of measurements: diffusion from a deposited surface layer of PbCl2 and diffusion from PbCl2 vapor.

XXXVIII. Diffusion of the chloride ion in NaCl

Philosophical Magazine, 1956
Abstract The rate of diffusion of 24Na in NaCl has been measured (Mapother, Crooks and Maurer 1950) by evaporating a film of 24NaCl on to the surface of a crystal of NaCl and subsequently determining the concentration of 24Na as a function of the distance from the surface. Two diffusion processes have been found-diffusion by vacancies created thermally

Diffusion of ferrous ion in silver chloride

Physica Status Solidi (a), 1975
The diffusion of Fe2+ ion in AgCl has been found to proceed substitutionally over the temperature range of measurement (232 to 449 °C). The standard serial sectioning technique was used. The temperature dependence of the diffusion can be represented by D = 15.1 exp (−1.27/kT) cm2/s.

Impurity Diffusion of Calcium Ions in Alkali Chloride + Calcium Chloride Mixed Melts and Self‐Diffusion of Calcium Ions in Molten Calcium Chloride

Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für physikalische Chemie, 1965
AbstractDiffusion coefficients for calcium ions were measured in NaCl + 0.2 mole% CaCl2 and KCl + 0.2 mole% CaCl2 mixed melts, and pure CaCl2 melt, using the capillary method and a Ca45 radio tracer. It was found that the self‐diffusion coefficient for the calcium ion in molten CaCl2 was much smaller than that for cations in some molten alkali ...

Self-diffusion and trace component diffusion of chloride ion in particles of hydrous ceric oxide as a function of chloride ion capacity

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Articles, 1992
Self-diffusion coefficients for chloride ion were measured as a function of chloride ion capacity in solutions of varying acdity using particles of hydrous ceric oxide heated at 50, 200 and 400°C. The measured self-diffusion coefficients are dependent only upon the total chloride ion capacity.

Diffusion of chloride ions in polymer‐mortar composites

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2008
AbstractIn recent years, the rapid deterioration of various reinforced concrete structures has been a widely recognized problem in the world. Penetration of chloride ions into the concrete structures was found to be the major cause of premature corrosion of reinforcing steel and to promote their deterioration.

Diffusion of chloride ions in hardened cement pastes

Cement and Concrete Research, 1981
Abstract Kinetics of diffusion of chloride ions in hardened cement pastes have been investigated. For Portland cement pastes of fixed type, made with various water-cement ratios (w/c), activation energies for the diffusion process have been measured and the results have been related to the pore structures of the materials.

Diffusion of Bismuth Ions in Potassium Chloride Crystals

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968
The diffusion of bismuth in single crystals of potassium chloride was measured by a spectrophotometric method. The measurements were carried out in the temperature range 275°–674°C. The Arrhenius plot consists of two straight lines intersecting at about 400°C. The corresponding diffusion coefficients are expressed by D<400°C = 1.7 × 10− 3exp(− 0.

Aggregate influence on chloride ion diffusion into concrete

Cement and Concrete Research, 1999
Abstract An attempt is made to predict the probable effect of the aggregate on chloride ion diffusion into saturated concrete. It is shown that if the chloride ion diffusion coefficient of an aggregate ranges from 0.2 to 10 times that of the cement paste matrix, then this could result in variations in the concrete chloride ion diffusion coefficient ...
