Self-diffusion of sodium ion in sodium chloride

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1986
Abstract The problem of cation self-diffusion in NaCl for a single vacancy mechanism is attempted using a reaction coordinate approach employing the phonons in the system. The vacancy is given an active role by estimating the displacements of its nearest neighbour Cl − ions in the environment of the vacancy through the lattice Green's functions and ...

Diffusion of negative ion vacancies in potassium chloride

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1958
Abstract The results of experimental investigations on the rate of relaxation of the enhanced electrical conductivity produced by rapid quenching of potassium chloride are shown to be in good agreement with the theoretical findings of Jain (1958) for the rate of annihilation of lattice vacancies by diffusion to surfaces.

Numerical Simulation on Chloride Ions Diffusion in Concrete

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
Allowing for the analogy between ions diffusion and heat transfer, the numerical simulation on chloride ions diffusion in concrete can be realized following the thermal analysis module in the large general FEA software ANSYS, by reasonable equivalent of parameters. It is based on the modified model for Fick’s second diffusion law, taking the factors of

Microscopic Mechanism of the Diffusivity of Concrete Chloride Ion

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Use concrete specimens with different mix proportions to conserve them for 90d taking into account the influence of mineral admixture material---fly ash. Then adopts the RCM test method to measure the rapid diffusivity of chloride ion of concrete and observes the microstructure of the cement paste using the SEM (scanning electron microscopy), aiming to

Modeling of Chloride Ions Diffusion in Cracked Concrete

Earth and Space 2010, 2010
In the saline environment, chloride ions diffusion depth in concrete is very important for predicting the service life of concrete structures. Moreover, concrete structures are not always crack-free. Cracks with different widths and depths will reduce the cover thickness and accelerate the migration of chloride ions.

Influence of Temperature on Chloride Ion Diffusion of Concrete

Journal of the Korea Concrete Institute, 2014
The long term integrity of concrete cask is very important for spent nuclear fuel dry storage system. However, there are serious concerns about early deterioration of concrete cask from creaking and corrosion of reinforcing steel by chloride ion because the cask is usually located in seaside, expecially by combined deterioration such as chloride ion ...

Chloride Ion Diffusion of Phosphoaluminate Cement Concrete

Advanced Materials Research, 2009
Penetration and diffusion of chloride ions in concrete can lead to the corrosion of steel bar and shorten the service life of concrete structures. Phosphoaluminate cement (PAC) is a new cementitious material which has many special properties compared to Portland cement (PC).

Diffusion of chloride ions from seawater into concrete

Cement and Concrete Research, 1979
Abstract The rates of chloride diffusion from seawater into concrete made with different w/c ratios and different types of cements were studied. The effect of cathodic protection on the chloride penetration was also investigated. The effect of w/c ratio on the chloride content was limited mainly to a surface layer of the concrete and to short ...

The diffusion of cadmium ions in solid potassium chloride

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1965
Abstract The diffusion of cerium ions in KC1 crystals has been studied over the temperature range of 500 to 700°C by diffusing from a radioactively tagged deposit of CeCl 3 and using a sectioning technique. The diffusion showed no apparent dependence on concentration over the range studied. The diffusion coefficient obeyed the equation: D(Ce) = 1.

Fast diffusion of Cs+, a large alkali ion, in silver chloride

Solid State Communications, 1976
The diffusion of Cs+ tracer in AgCl has been measured in the temperature range 327–447°C. The unexpectedly small activation energy of 0.83 eV and tracer diffusivities larger than those of substitutional Ag+ have been interpreted in terms of local strain in the lattice, caused by the large radius of cesium, with a concomitant strong binding of a cation ...
