PAK1 inhibitor NVS‐PAK1‐1 preserves dendritic spines in amyloid/tau exposed neurons and 5xFAD mice
Abstract INTRODUCTION Synaptic spine loss in Alzheimer's disease (AD) contributes to cognitive decline. p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1), a regulator of spine integrity, is aberrantly activated in AD. We investigated whether PAK1 inhibition might preserve dendritic spines in vitro and in vivo.

Degradation of 3‐chlorobenzoate by thermophilic micro‐organisms [PDF]
Thermophilic (75 degrees C), anaerobic biodegradation of chlorobenzoates was investigated using different inocula from geothermal and non-geothermal environments. Microbial dehalogenation of 3-chlorobenzoate (0.5 mmol l-1 was achieved by two mixed cultures growing anaerobically at 75 degrees C.

Thioxolone derivatives are evaluated for antibacterial and anti‐diabetic potential. Compounds T‐11, T‐12, and T‐13 exhibit potent antibacterial activity against E. coli, B. cereus, and S. aureus, with low MIC values. T‐11 and T‐3 show stronger α‐glucosidase inhibition than acarbose, while molecular docking reveals T‐13 as the strongest binder ...

We developed cyclic (diacyloxyiodo)arenes to overcome the reactivity/selectivity paradox in iodine chemistry. This new platform enables simple, one‐pot synthesis of diverse hypervalent iodine(III) reagents. The method is sustainable, catalytic, works for asymmetric reactions, and is biocompatible (e.g., modifying peptides).

A series of three tetranuclear and two trinuclear Co(III) carboxylate complexes are synthesized and thoroughly spectroscopically and electrochemically characterized. The relative stability of the tetranuclear versus trinuclear complexes is investigated by density functional theory calculations, and the infrared and ultraviolet/visible spectra are ...

THERMAL DECARBOXYLATION OF CHLOROBENZOIC ACIDS
Thermal decarboxylation of o-chloro- and 2-4-dichlorobenzoic acids in resorcinol solution follows SE2. mechanism. The activation energies, frequency factors and entropies of activation are: 32300 cals. mole -1, 6.76x1010 sec. -1 and _12.0 cals. deg.-1 for o-chlornbenzoic acid, and 27600 cals mole-1, 3.98X 109sec.-1 and _17.6 cals.

Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 8 (TRPM8) is a cationic thermosensory channel crucial for cold sensation and menthol response. TRPM8 dysfunction leads to sensory symptoms such as cold allodynia. Targeting TRPM8 is important for treating diseases like peripheral neuropathies and cancer.

Ir/Ni metallaphotoredox system enables the regioselective α‐arylation and alkylation of N‐alkyl heterocycles via C(sp3)─H bond functionalization. This method bypasses traditional Sn2 pathways and offers complementary regioselectivity to transition metal catalysis.

Photoredox autocatalysis is revealed to access cyclic biaryl sulfonamides (BASNs) without an initial exogenous photocatalyst. While unveiling photoredox autocatalysis is important to the enrichment of basic research, this has also led to further practical applications such as rapid discovery of novel, potent and readily accessible photocatalyst ...

Exploration of Aromatic Hydrazides as Inhibitors of Human Carbonic Anhydrases
Hydrazide‐based derivatives were evaluated as inhibitors of human carbonic anhydrase (hCA) isoforms I, II, IV, IX, and XII. Several derivatives, particularly those with ureido‐linkers, exhibited strong inhibitory activity with inhibition constants in the low micromolar range.
