Subsurface chlorophyll maxima reduce the performance of non-photochemical quenching corrections in the Southern Ocean

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) within phytoplankton cells often causes the daytime suppression of chlorophyll fluorescence in the Southern Ocean. This is problematic and requires accurate correction when chlorophyll fluorescence is used as a proxy for

The effect of physiological age of potato plants on chosen chlorophyll fluorescence parameters

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2015
Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) crop is the world's number one non-grain food commodity and the fourth main food crop in the world after maize, rice and wheat. It is a typical plant mainly of temperate climate.

Investigation the Effects of Salinity and Nitric Oxide on the Changes of Chlorophyll a Fluorescence in Oat (Avena sativa L.) Plant Probed by JIP-Test [PDF]

open access: yesZīst/shināsī-i Giyāhī-i Īrān, 2017
Salinity is one of the most important abiotic stresses that affect plant growth and development. In order to study the effects of salinity stress on oat (Avena sativa L.), salinity treatments including 0 (control), 50, 100, and 150 mM sodium chloride and

Fluorescence bands and chlorophyll a forms

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Specialized Section on Biophysical Subjects, 1964
Abstract Fluorescence spectra were determined at temperatures between 20° and −196° for a number of photosynthetic organisms. Below −90° the single fluorescence maximum around 685 mμ was replaced by a system of three bands, at 686, 696 and 717–720 mμ in algal cells. Cooling usually resulted in a decrease of the 685-mμ band.

Chlorophyll Fluorescence Imaging-Based Duckweed Phenotyping to Assess Acute Phytotoxic Effects

open access: yesPlants, 2021
Duckweeds (Lemnaceae species) are extensively used models in ecotoxicology, and chlorophyll fluorescence imaging offers a sensitive and high throughput platform for phytotoxicity assays with these tiny plants.

Exploring the Potential of Zero‐Dimensional Carbon Nanomaterials in Photoluminescent, Electrochemiluminescent and Electrochemical Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials are presented as multifunctional platforms linking structure, property, and sensing performance. Surface engineering and heteroatom doping modulate electron‐transfer and luminescent behavior, enabling electrochemical, photoluminescent, and electrochemiluminescent detection. Fundamental design principles, analytical

Ethylene production and quality in 1-Methylcyclopropene treated 'Abbé Fètel'pears after storage in Dynamically Controlled Atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This research studies the ethylene production rate (EP) and quality in 1-MCP treated ‘Abbé Fètel’ pears after storage in DCA compared to NA and CA. 1-MCP treated (300 ppb) and control fruit were stored at -0.5°C in NA, CA (2 kPa O2 + 0.7 kPa CO2) and DCA

Parallel Electrical Integration of Photo Bio Electrochemical Systems (photo‐BESs): Performance Gains and Load Dependency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parallel wiring of bioelectrochemical devices with conventional generators unexpectedly boosts output. A biophotovoltaic paired with a solar cell delivers up to 50% more power at low loads than their separate contributions; a plant microbial fuel cell shows similar current gains.

Green manure can be an auxiliary factor against dynamic photoinhibition in Dalbergia ecastophyllum (L.) young trees in areas impacted by mining

open access: yesPhotosynthetica
This study evaluated the efficiency of green manure (+GM) on PSII efficiency throughout the day in Dalbergia ecastophyllum. The experiment was carried out in a disabled clay extraction deposit, located approximately 30 km south of São Mateus city ...
