Long-term effects of red- and blue-light emitting diodes on leaf anatomy and photosynthetic efficiency of three ornamental pot plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Light quality critically affects plant development and growth. Development of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) enables the use of narrow band red and/or blue wavelengths as supplementary lighting in ornamental production.

Chlorophyll a + b Content and Chlorophyll Fluorescence in Avocado

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science, 2012
Tonnage (T), Simmonds (S) avocado trees, and TxS crosses were evaluated for differences in chlorophyll content and maximal quantum yield of photosystem II in sun and shade-type leaves. Total chlorophyll content by area (Chl a+bar) ranged from 984 mg m -2 in TxS240 to 4320 mg m -2 in Simmonds.

Application of chlorophyll fluorescence in fruit science [PDF]

open access: yes1st PhotosynthOS Conference - Book of abstracts, 2023
The wide range of research on chlorophyll fluorescence (ChlF) demonstrates its usefulness in many plant biology, agronomy, and ecology research areas. Perennial fruit trees are frequently exposed to various biotic and abiotic stresses throughout their lifespan, limiting their crop quality and yield.

Fluorescence Decay Studies of Chlorophyll a in Vivo

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1965
The study of the fluorescence of chlorophyll a offers a useful approach toward better understanding of the primary act of photosynthesis. This paper describes new measurements of the decay of chlorophyll a fluorescence in vivo, made with a considerably improved oscilloscopic-display technique.

Climate Change Threatens Micronutrient Density of European Winter Wheat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Micronutrients are vital for human health. Wheat is a major staple crop and a significant source of minerals and B‐vitamins. The impact of climate change on their content remains largely unknown. We evaluated micronutrient levels in European winter wheat grown under historical and projected climate conditions. Our findings indicate that future climates
