Effects of chlorothiazide on working capacity of normal subjects
In normal subjects chlorothiazide produced a 21% fall in plasma volume, a 15% decrease in physical working capacity, and an 11% decrease in maximum oxygen consumption. These changes were reversed by intravenous dextran.

Effects of metolazone in man: Comparison with chlorothiazide
Effects of metolazone in man: Comparison with chlorothiazide. The new diuretic agent, metolazone, was investigated to evaluate its mode and sites of action in man.During sustained maximal water diuresis metolazone produced a mean increment in sodium ...

Clinical Evaluation of Chlorothiazide [PDF]
In the 2 years chlorothiazide has been available, it has been demonstrated to have many of the characteristics of the ideal diuretic agent. It has become an important drug in the treatment of patients with edema and hypertension. Experience has indicated that the side effects and toxic reactions are not severe nor do they prohibit long-term use of the ...

Clarification of the site of action of chlorothiazide in the rat nephron
retics has been attributed to inhibition of sodium reab-sorption in the distal nephron of the kidney. Recent mi-cropuncture studies have shown, however, that chlorothi-azide administration can also inhibit sodium reabsorption in the proximal convolution.

Effects of benzothiadiazine drugs on carbohydrate metabolism [PDF]
The administration of chlorothiazide both to man and to rats results in hyperglycemia following a glucose load. Its administration to rats causes a decreased rate of glucose utilization by their adipose tissue in vitro.

Competitive inhibition of renal transport of p-aminohippurate by analogues of chlorothiazide
Competitive inhibition of p-aminohippurate (PAH) transport by analogues of chlorothiazide has been demonstrated with slices of rabbit kidney cortex. Although analogues of low pK1 are better inhibitors of PAH transport than are analogues of higher pK1 ...

Chlorothiazide effect on feedback-mediated control of glomerular filtration rate
We examined the effect of chlorothiazide (CTZ) on the tubuloglomerular (TG) feedback system in anesthetized Sprague-Dawley rats. During infusion of CTZ (0.25 mg.kg body wt-1.min-1) we found that whole kidney glomerular filtration rate (GFR) decreased by
