Solid solution polymorphs afford two high-soluble co-drug forms of tolbutamide and chlorpropamide

open access: yes, 2023
The search for solid solutions of class-two insulin secretagogues, tolbutamide and chlorpropamide, reveals a rare case of monotropic polymorphism for the mixed crystals.

Anti-proliferative activity of oral anti-hyperglycemic agents on human vascular smooth muscle cells: thiazolidinediones (glitazones) have enhanced activity under high glucose conditions

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology, 2007
Background Inhibition of vascular smooth muscle cell (vSMC) proliferation by oral anti-hyperglycemic agents may have a role to play in the amelioration of vascular disease in diabetes.

Effects of Hot Air Drying on the Nutritional and Phytochemical Composition of Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) Microgreens

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 90, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Cruciferous microgreens are recognized for their high content of phytochemicals, particularly glucosinolates. Their high moisture content and water activity make them highly perishable after harvest and highlight the need for effective preservation methods that maintain their nutritional quality.

Autoimmune Complications of Lymphoproliferative Diseases

open access: yesHematological Oncology, Volume 43, Issue S2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Peripheral autoimmune cytopenias may complicate a fraction of lymphoproliferative disorders (LPD), particularly chronic lymphocytic leukemia, non‐Hodgkin B‐cell lymphomas, angioimmunoblastic T‐cell lymphoma and large granular lymphocytic leukemia.

Chlorpropamide treatment restores the reduced carrageenan-induced paw edema and pleural exudate volume in diabetic rats

open access: yes, 2008
Objective and design: Knowing that hyperglycemia is a hallmark of vascular dysfunction in diabetes and that neonatal streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats (n-STZ) present reduced inflammatory response, we decided to evaluate the effect of chlorpropamide ...

The role of fluids in high-pressure polymorphism of drugs: Different behaviour of β-chlorpropamide in different inert gas and liquid media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The hydrostatic compression of β-chlorpropamide gives different high-pressure phases, depending on the choice of pressure-transmitting fluid (paraffin, neon and helium).

The Effect of Serum Ca2+ Compensation on the Efficacy of Chlorpropamide in Alloxan-diabetic Rabbits

open access: yes, 1992
A decrease in serum Ca2+ concentration was observed in alloxan-diabetic rabbits, with recovery of serum Ca2+ levels achieved following insulin therapy. This suggested that the diabetic condition directly relates to the decrease in serum Ca2+ levels.

Rapid high performance liquid chromatographic determination of chlorpropamide in human plasma

open access: yes, 2010
Samples were extracted with dichloromethane and the organic layer evaporated to dryness. The residue was dissolved in methanol, and 25 ìl aliquot injected onto the column. Tolbutamide was used as theinternal standard for chlorpropamide.

Chlorpropamide-induced thrombocytopenia [PDF]

open access: yesPostgraduate Medical Journal, 1977
Summary Thrombocytopenia is a rare complication of chlorpropamide therapy. An immunological mechanism is generally held responsible, but has never previously been proved. In the present case the existence of such a mechanism has been established.

Association between chronic diseases and severe periodontal disease progression: A retrospective cohort study in a city of Japan

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, Volume 26, Issue 1, Page 54-64, January 2025.
This manuscript is a study demonstrating the association between the progression of severe periodontal diseases and chronic diseases commonly addressed in primary care. We used claims data and defined the outcome as the “progression of severe periodontitis” and followed patients for 4 years.
