Assessing the Validity of Friedewald's Formula and Anandraja's Formula For Serum LDL-Cholesterol Calculation.

open access: yesJournal of clinical and diagnostic research : JCDR, 2015
INTRODUCTION An important aspect of the assessment of cardiovascular risk for a dyslipidemic subject is the estimation of serum Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C).

Small LDL-Cholesterol is Superior to LDL-Cholesterol for Determining Severe Coronary Atherosclerosis

open access: yesJournal of Atherosclerosis and Thrombosis, 2008
Recent evidence suggests that small dense low-density lipoprotein (sd-LDL) particles are more atherogenic than large-LDL in spite of their lower cholesterol content. This study aimed to determine whether sd-LDL-cholesterol (sd-LDL-C) is superior to LDL-C as a biomarker of coronary heart disease (CHD).LDL particle size determined by gradient gel ...

Postoperative Stress Accelerates Atherosclerosis Through Inflammatory Remodeling of the HDL Proteome and Impaired Reverse Cholesterol Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study shows that noncardiac surgical inflammation rapidly disrupts HDL function and cholesterol efflux in mice and human patients. Impaired reverse cholesterol transport after surgery drives rapid lipid accumulation, NETosis, and apoptosis within atherosclerotic plaques.

Systemic Inflammatory Markers Are Closely Associated with Atherogenic Lipoprotein Subfractions in Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2015
Objective. To investigate the relationship between inflammatory markers and atherogenic lipoprotein subfractions. Methods. We studied 520 eligible subjects who were not receiving any lipid-lowering therapy.

LDL/HDL cholesterol ratio is associated with new-onset NAFLD in Chinese non-obese people with normal lipids: a 5-year longitudinal cohort study

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2021

Gambaran Kadar Kolesterol Low Density Lipoprotein (Ldl) Pada Masyarakat Perokok Di Pesisir Pantai [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
: Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is a type of lipoprotein that transports cholesterol most widely in the body. Smoking is one of the factors that can cause elevated levels of LDL cholesterol, which nicotine is one element in cigarettes cathecolamine that ...

Relation of hyperlipidemia in serum and loss of high density lipoproteins in urine in the nephrotic syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The mechanism leading to hyperlipidemia in the nephrotic syndrome is not fully understood but may be related in part to loss of high density lipoproteins in the urine of patients with nephrosis.

A Rationally Engineered Spleen‐Tropic One‐Component Lipid‐mRNA Complex (OncoLRC) for Cancer Vaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
OncoLRC, a one‐component lipid‐mRNA complex, enables efficient spleen‐targeted delivery at an exceptionally low lipid‐to‐mRNA mass ratio (1.5:1), robustly activates immune responses, inhibits tumor growth, and synergizes with checkpoint blockade, presenting a next‐generation platform for mRNA vaccines.

Attenuation of plasma low density lipoprotein cholesterol by select 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors in mice devoid of low density lipoprotein receptors

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1997
Low density lipoprotein (LDL) reduction independent of LDL receptor regulation was investigated using HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors in LDL receptor-deficient mice.

Blood rheology, cardiovascular risk factors, and cardiovascular disease: The West of Scotland Coronary Prevention Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The West of Scotland Coronary Prevention Study (WOSCOPS) showed that pravastatin reduced the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) events in 6,595 middle-aged hypercholesterolaemic men aged 45-64 years without prior myocardial infarction followed for an ...
