Gli1+ adventitial stem cells (ASCs) have been thought to generate smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in atherosclerosis. Using a dual‐recombinase lineage tracing to exclude ectopic labeling, Wang et al. found that Gli1+ ASCs do not contribute to SMCs in atherosclerotic plaques.

Effects of oxidatively modified LDL on cholesterol esterification in cultured macrophages.
Oxidative modification of low density lipoproteins (LDL) has been shown to cause accelerated degradation of LDL via the scavenger receptor pathway in cultured macrophages, and it has been proposed that this process might lead to cholesterol accumulation ...

Plasma lipoprotein metabolism in transgenic mice overexpressing apolipoprotein E. Accelerated clearance of lipoproteins containing apolipoprotein B. [PDF]
We have reported that transgenic mice overexpressing rat apo E shows marked reduction of plasma cholesterol and triglyceride levels due to the disappearance of VLDL and LDL.

Importance Triglycerides and cholesterol are both carried in plasma by apolipoprotein B (ApoB)–containing lipoprotein particles. It is unknown whether lowering plasma triglyceride levels reduces the risk of cardiovascular events to the same extent as ...

Phospholipid transfer protein(PLTP) plays a critical role in forming a complex with kinase A (AURKA) and P65. This interaction facilitates phosphorylation of P65 at Ser536, leading to the activation of the NF‐κB signaling pathway. Ultimately, this leads to the upregulation of downstream cytokines, including IL‐6, IL‐8, and CSF‐1, which promotes M2 ...

Elevated exogenous palmitic acid promotes the S‐palmitoylation of SRPK1 in endothelial cells, a dynamic process governed by ZDHHC24 and APT1. This post‐translational modification strengthens the interaction between SRPK1 and the E3 ubiquitin ligase MIB1, thereby facilitating the proteasomal degradation of SRPK1.

Effects of lipoprotein lipase and statins on cholesterol uptake into heart and skeletal muscles⃞
Regulation of cholesterol metabolism in cultured cells and in the liver is dependent on actions of the LDL receptor. However, nonhepatic tissues have multiple pathways of cholesterol uptake.

A large‐scale multiomic dataset (proteomic and metabolomic) comprising 3,060 plasma samples were analyzed to identify proteins, metabolites, pathways, and protein‐associated drugs linked to Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) independently of apolipoprotein E (APOE). AD was associated with a distinct molecular signature that captures.
