Alimentary lipemia-induced redistribution of cholesteryl ester between lipoproteins. Studies in normolipidemic, combined hyperlipidemic, and hypercholesterolemic men.

open access: yes, 1989
Alimentary lipemia stimulates the transfer of cholesteryl ester between lipoproteins in vitro and may alter lipoprotein cholesteryl ester distribution in vivo.

The use of phospholipid vesicles for in vitro studies on cholesteryl ester hydrolysis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1976
Radiolabeled cholesteryl oleate was incorporated into vesicles prepared from egg yolk lecithin and utilized as a substrate for studies of sterol ester hydrolases present in rat liver homogenates.

From prediction to intervention: Paradigm shifts in causal AI for precision medicine and large‐scale cohorts

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Large‐scale cohorts and multimodal biomedical data have enabled powerful predictive models for clinical risk stratification, but prediction alone cannot guide effective interventions. This review introduces causal artificial intelligence as a design‐first framework that integrates target trial emulation, causal discovery, and robust effect estimation ...

Extramitochondrial OPA1 and adrenocortical function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We have previously described that silencing of the mitochondrial protein OPA1 enhances mitochondrial 27 Ca2+ signaling and aldosterone production in H295R adrenocortical cells.

Distribution of cell-derived cholesterol among plasma lipoproteins: a comparison of three techniques.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
Three fractionation procedures (immunoaffinity chromatography, two-dimensional nondenaturing electrophoresis, and heparin-agarose affinity chromatography) have been compared in determining the kinetics of free and ester cholesterol transfer in ...

Proteomic and metabolic signatures of female reproductive factors and risk of age‐related ocular diseases: A large prospective cohort study

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
The full editable vector source file of this graphical abstract is uploaded as a supplementary EPS file for typesetting. All elements are copyright‐free. Abstract Age‐related ocular diseases (ARODs), including cataract, primary open‐angle glaucoma (POAG), and age‐related macular degeneration (AMD), are leading causes of vision impairment and exhibit ...

Peptide‐directed nanovehicles enabling tumor‐selective ROS amplification and antitumor immunity

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Cancer cells are vulnerable to oxidative stress, yet exploit immune tolerance to escape destruction. In contrast, their metabolic profile is markedly altered to support rapid proliferation, accompanied by elevated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Opposing roles of DGAT‐mediated lipid droplet biogenesis in the regulation of ferroptosis sensitivity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Ferroptosis is driven by unrestricted peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acyl (PUFA) chains in membrane phospholipids. In triple‐negative breast cancer cells, lipid droplets (LDs) sequester dietary PUFAs, limiting their incorporation into membrane phospholipids, preventing mitochondrial damage, and reducing lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.

In vivo effect of simvastatin on lipoprotein cholesteryl ester metabolism in normocholesterolemic volunteers

open access: yes, 1991
A kinetic study on lipoprotein cholesteryl ester metabolism was carried out in 4 normolipidemic volunteers before and after treatment with simvastatin. They received LDL labelled with 3H-cholesteryl linoleate.
