Transformation of cholic acid by Arthrobacter simplex

Steroids, 1993
Fermentation of cholic acid with Arthrobacter simplex (IICB 227) under aerobic conditions yielded 3,12-dioxo-23,24-dinorchola-4,6-dienoic acid, 7 alpha-hydroxy-3,12-dioxo-23,24-dinorchol-4-enoic acid, 3 alpha, 7 alpha-dihydroxy-12-oxo-5 beta-cholan-24-oic acid, 3 alpha, 7 alpha-dihydroxy-12-oxo-5 beta-23,24-dinorcholan-22-oic acid, 7 alpha, 12 alpha ...

Protective effect of grape by-product-fortified breads against cholesterol/cholic acid diet-induced hypercholesterolaemia in rats.

The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2013
BACKGROUND New breads fortified with two different forms of grape by-products, namely dried powdered skins (PGP) and freeze-dried extract therefrom (EGP), were characterised and their protective effect against hypercholesterolaemia in rats was studied.

Synthesis of amino analogues of cholic acid

Russian Journal of Bioorganic Chemistry, 2011
Amino analogues of cholic acid were synthesized by reduction of oximes with combination of titanium(III) chloride and sodium cyanoborohydride.

Liquid crystal based sensors for the detection of cholic acid

, 2013
The concentration level of cholic acid is a biomarker for the early diagnosis of liver and intestinal diseases. We present a biosensor platform based on the anchoring transition of 4-cyano-4′-pentylbiphenyl (5CB) liquid crystals at surfactant-laden 5CB ...

Transformation of cholic acid by Clostridium bifermentans

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1982
Suspensions of washed, resting‐stage cells of Clostridium bifermentans were incubated with cholic acid under a variety of conditions in an attempt to manipulate the competing 7α‐dehydroxylation and 7α‐dehydrogenation reactions. Important variables thus identified were then tested in batch fermentation.

Nanomolar cellular antisense activity of peptide nucleic acid (PNA) cholic acid ("umbrella") and cholesterol conjugates delivered by cationic lipids.

Bioconjugate chemistry, 2012
Limited cellular uptake and low bioavailability of peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) have restricted widespread use of PNAs as antisense/antigene agents for cells in culture and not least for in vivo applications.

Photophysical probes to assess the potential of cholic acid aggregates as drug carriers.

Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2012
The two enantiomers of the nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug naproxen and of its methyl ester have been selected as representative probes with markedly different hydrophobicity to assess the potential of cholic acid aggregates as drug carriers by means ...

Preparation of Chenodeoxycholic Acid from Cholic Acid

Nature, 1952
KAWAI1 converted cholic acid to chenodeoxycholic acid (3α : 7α-dihydroxycholanic acid, anthropodeoxycholic acid) by Kishner–Wolff reduction of the derived 3 : 7-dihydroxy-12-keto cholanic acid. Plattner and Heusser2 similarly reduced methyl 3 : 7-di-acetoxy-12-keto cholanate.

Multishape Memory Effect of Norbornene-Based Copolymers with Cholic Acid Pendant Groups

, 2012
Multishape memory copolymers were prepared through copolymerization of two norbornene derivatives: one based on cholic acid and the other on triethylene glycol monomethyl ether.
