Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Ternary Complex of Plasmid DNA Electrostatically Assembled with Polyamidoamine Dendrimer and Chondroitin Sulfate for Effective and Secure Gene Delivery

open access: yes, 2014
The purpose of this study was to develop a ternary complex of plasmid DNA (pDNA) electrostatically assembled with polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer and chondroitin sulfate (CS) for effective and secure gene delivery.

An Injectable Enzymatically Crosslinked Carboxymethylated Pullulan/Chondroitin Sulfate Hydrogel for Cartilage Tissue Engineering

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
In this study, an enzymatically cross-linked injectable and biodegradable hydrogel system comprising carboxymethyl pullulan-tyramine (CMP-TA) and chondroitin sulfate-tyramine (CS-TA) conjugates was successfully developed under physiological conditions in

Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.

Melatonin combined with chondroitin sulfate ABC promotes nerve regeneration after root-avulsion brachial plexus injury

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2019
After nerve-root avulsion injury of the brachial plexus, oxidative damage, inflammatory reaction, and glial scar formation can affect nerve regeneration and functional recovery.

The role of Plasmodium falciparum var genes in malaria in pregnancy

open access: yes, 2004
Sequestration of Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes in the placenta is responsible for many of the harmful effects of malaria during pregnancy. Sequestration occurs as a result of parasite adhesion molecules expressed on the surface of infected ...

The Interaction of Chondroitin Sulfate with a Lipid Monolayer Observed by Using Nonlinear Vibrational Spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2021
We present the first vibrational sum-frequency generation spectroscopic study of chondroitin sulfate (CS) interacting with dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) at the air-liquid interface. In the presence of Ca2+ and CS, the DPPC headgroups reoriented,

THE OCCURRENCE OF INTRACELLULAR CHONDROITIN SULFATE [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 1963
Suspensions of chondrocytes were prepared by treatment with trypsin of the epiphyses of tibias and femurs of 13-day-old chick embryos. After washing to remove the matrix, such suspensions readily incorporate radioactive sulfate into both intracellular and extracellular chondroitin sulfate.

Thiolated Polymers in 3D Bioprinting: Control of Gelation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thiolated polymers are established as programmable bioinks for 3D bioprinting, integrating versatile crosslinking chemistries with redox‐responsive control. This work demonstrates how molecular design and external triggers define gelation kinetics, printability windows, and structural fidelity, enabling stable, high‐resolution constructs and advancing ...
