[Cricoid chondronecrosis after prolonged endotracheal intubation].

Journal de radiologie, 2002
Subglottic area injuries after prolonged endotracheal intubation are relatively frequent but cricoid cartilage necrosis is rare, with uncertain prognosis. Endoscopic findings are evocative even when clinical signs are not. When suspected, CT scan is required.

Cricoid chondronecrosis: a complication of endotracheal intubation.

The Journal of the Arkansas Medical Society, 2012
Stenosis of the subglottic area is a common complication of endotracheal intubation and external blunt trauma. Chondronecrosis of the cricoid cartilage is a rare but known complication of neck radiotherapy for laryngeal carcinoma. It has also been reported as a complication of prolonged endotracheal intubation.

Bacterial chondronecrosis with osteomyelitis (BCO) in modern broilers: impacts, mechanisms, and perspectives

CABI Reviews, 2020
Abstract Bacterial chondronecrosis with osteomyelitis (BCO) is one of the leading causes of lameness and welfare concerns in the modern broiler. The avian bone physiology and remodeling process is complex and dependent on numerous bone and vascular cell types and pathways working harmoniously.

[Chondronecrosis of the cricoid after prolonged intubation (author's transl)].

Annales d'oto-laryngologie et de chirurgie cervico faciale : bulletin de la Societe d'oto-laryngologie des hopitaux de Paris, 1981
On the basis of 4 cases of partial chondronecrosis of the cricoid after prolonged intubation, the authors review the literature which contains very few similar cases. With regard to pathogenesis, in the light of experimental studies and clinical findings, they emphasize the importance of two lesional factors: excessive diameter of the intubation tube ...

[J. Evan's operation for stenosis caused by cricoid chondronecrosis].

Annales d'oto-laryngologie et de chirurgie cervico faciale : bulletin de la Societe d'oto-laryngologie des hopitaux de Paris, 1984
Five further cases of subglottic stenosis after intubation are reported. Lesions were due to chondrolysis of the cricoid cartilage: associating an Evans type anterior laryngotracheoplasty (the principle of which is recalled) with the posterior cricoid incision of the Rethi-Aboulker type produced a marked improvement in the results of posterior ...

New genes involved in the Bacterial Chondronecrosis with Osteomyelitis in commercial broilers

Livestock Science, 2018
Abstract Locomotor problems have a great economic impact on world poultry production, because difficulty of locomotion leads to a decrease in animal performance and an increase in partial or total carcass condemnation. In addition, locomotor problems greatly affect the chicken welfare.

Leg disorders in poultry: bacterial chondronecrosis with osteomyelitis (BCO)

2017
Bacterial chondronecrosis with osteomyelitis (BCO) is widely recognized as one of the most common causes of lameness in broilers. This chapter starts by summarizing the pathogenesis of BCO. Experimental models that successfully trigger BCO are then reviewed. Sources of bacteria that infect the bones are discussed, with the primary emphasis on bacterial
