Implementation of the Chick Chorioallantoic Membrane (CAM) Model in Radiation Biology and Experimental Radiation Oncology Research

open access: yesCancers, 2019
Radiotherapy (RT) is part of standard cancer treatment. Innovations in treatment planning and increased precision in dose delivery have significantly improved the therapeutic gain of radiotherapy but are reaching their limits due to biologic constraints.

Are PM6:Y6 Bulk Heterojunction Photoactive Films Cytocompatible and Electrically Stable in Biological Environments?

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
PM6:Y6 organic photovoltaic films are systematically studied to understand their potential for use in bioelectronics. The films exhibit excellent stability in simulated physiological environments, enabling consistent power delivery and demonstrating compatibility with rat neurons and the choriallantoic membrane of chicken embryos.

Compressed collagen and decellularized tissue: novel components in a pipeline approach for the study of cancer metastasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Metastasis is a complex process which is difficult to study and model. Experimental ingenuity is therefore essential when seeking to elucidate the biological mechanisms involved.

Antiangiogenic activity of deoxoartemisinin derivatives on chorioallantoic membrane

open access: yesBioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2006
Non acetal-type derivatives at C-12 of artemisinin and their novel dimers including a fullerene conjugate were synthesized and some of them showed potent in vivo antiangiogenic activity on chorioallantoic membrane higher than or comparable to those of fumagillin and thalidomide.

Vascular Effects of Photodynamic Therapy with Curcumin in a Chorioallantoic Membrane Model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a treatment that requires light, a photosensitizing agent, and molecular oxygen. The photosensitizer is activated by light and it interacts with the oxygen that is present in the cellular microenvironment.

Green Propolis Extract‐Mediated Synthesis of Biogenic Silver Nanoparticles: In Vitro Antileishmanial and Antibacterial Activities, Cytotoxicity and Ex Vivo Irritation Testing

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study describes the green synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) obtained from green propolis (AgNPs‐PRO). Before nanoparticles synthesis, a hydroethanolic green propolis extract (GPE) was obtained through ultrasound‐assisted extraction and characterized by high‐performance liquid ...

The Chick Chorioallantoic Membrane In Vivo Model to Assess Perineural Invasion in Head and Neck Cancer.

open access: yesJournal of Visualized Experiments, 2019
Perineural invasion is a phenotype in which cancer surrounds or invades the nerves. It is associated with poor clinical outcome for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and other cancers.

Ethnomedicinal Uses, Phytochemistry, Pharmacological Activities, and Toxicology of the Subfamily Gomphrenoideae (Amaranthaceae): A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The subfamily Gomphrenoideae is composed of about 480 accepted species, many of which have been historically used as medicinal plants, reason why they have been studied in terms of chemical profile, biological activity, and safety. This review consolidates the advances in research on this subfamily over the past 47 years, emphasizing its ...

The Anti-Tumorigenic Activity of Sema3C in the Chick Embryo Chorioallantoic Membrane Model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Sema3C protein, a member of the class 3 family of secreted semaphorins, play an important role in tumor development by regulating cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis processes. Depending on the type and malignancy grade of the tumor,
