Engineered exosomes improve myocardial cell membrane integrity and heart function in dystrophic cardiomyopathy

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Schematic diagram of the manufacturing process of exosomes‐cardiac homing peptide (Exo‐CHP) and its therapeutic effects for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) cardiomyopathy. Abstract Background Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD)‐associated cardiomyopathy is a leading causes of premature death, yet treatment options remain limited.

Design and Dynamic Response Characteristics Analysis of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Ship Combined Cooling and Power Supply System

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
An integrated hybrid energy storage and cogeneration system with CE‐DPS effectively stabilizes DC bus voltage in hydrogen fuel cell marine vessels. The proposed multi‐tier control suppresses voltage fluctuations, eliminates overshoot, and improves energy efficiency, achieving 68% exergy efficiency and 15.6% fuel savings.

Systemic and Local Adiposity in the Bone Marrow Microenvironment Associated With Improved Prognosis in Hodgkin Lymphoma: Imaging and Molecular Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 3, Page 782-796, 1 August 2026.
Schematic overview of systemic and bone marrow‐specific adiposity in Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL). Body Mass Index was associated with bone marrow (BM) involvement, relapse, and mortality (1). In contrast, increased yellow marrow density was associated with poorer prognosis (2).

Activating Paper Applying Gelatin, Starch and Chitosan Coatings Loaded With O/W Emulsions Encapsulating Rutin, Carvacrol and α‐Tocopherol

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 39, Issue 8, Page 1061-1082, August 2026.
Emulsion type governed the microstructure and functionality of papers coated with biopolymers matrix loaded with hydrophobic bioactives encapsulated into O/W emulsions. Emulsified systems improved UV–Vis barrier and antioxidant activity, whereas gelatin coatings with conventional or Pickering emulsions provided the greatest mechanical reinforcement ...

Catalytic Hydropyrolysis of Beetle Killed Trees for the Production of Transportation Biofuels

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2026.
Catalytic hydropyrolysis of beetle‐killed pine, ash, and redbay demonstrated that temperature, catalyst loading, and catalyst acidity strongly influence hydrocarbon yields, while response surface methodology (RSM) identified optimal operating conditions for maximizing overall product yield.

Spatial Scale Modulates the Effect of Habitat Amount on Diversity Patterns of Arachnid Assemblages Across Different Brazilian Ecosystems

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim We evaluated how native vegetation cover influences the diversity of arachnid assemblages across multiple spatial scales in major Brazilian ecosystems. Location Brazil (Amazon and Atlantic rainforests, Cerrado savanna and Caatinga dry forest). Taxon Arachnida (Opiliones, Pseudoscorpiones and Scorpiones). Methods We sampled arachnids at 120

To Move or Not to Move: When and How Bacteria Suppress Flagellar Motility

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, Volume 126, Issue 2, Page 173-189, August 2026.
Motility cessation in bacteria is a key regulatory strategy that provides multiple survival advantages including enhanced community cooperation, niche adaptation and evasion of host immune responses. This process is controlled by associated mechanisms such as post‐translational modifications and second messenger signalling that stabilise non‐motile ...

Cross‐stage single‐cell and spatial metabolome analyses reveal periderm specialization and tanshinone biosynthesis in Salvia miltiorrhiza roots

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 3, Page 1267-1282, August 2026.
Biosynthesis and accumulation of tanshinones in the periderm of Salvia miltiorrhiza during secondary root growth. Summary Perennial herbs develop long‐lived roots that undergo repeated cycles of secondary growth, during which the periderm functions as a protective barrier and a major site of specialized metabolite accumulation.
