Nuclear chromocenters of cultured chicken cells

Experimental Cell Research, 1962
A SEX dimorphism of interphase chick nuclei has been reported by Kosin and Ishizaki [2, 41. Ashley and The&s [l 1, on the other hand, were unable to find an interphase nuclear dimorphism in chickens, chromatin masses being common in the nuclei of both sexes. Ohno, Kaplan, and Kinosita [9] have reported a sex dimorphism for prophase nuclei.

Isolation of the Chromocenter Fraction from Mouse Liver Nuclei

Biochemistry (Moscow), 2002
A new method for isolation of the constitutive heterochromatin (chromocenters) from interphase nuclei of mouse liver has been developed. This method allows separation of chromocenters of different size. Chromocenter fractions are essentially free of nucleoli and other contaminants.

LINE-related component of mouse heterochromatin and complex chromocenters’ composition

Chromosome Research, 2016
Chromocenters are interphase nuclear landmark structures of constitutive heterochromatin. The tandem repeat (TR)-enriched parts of different chromosomes cluster together in chromocenters. There has been progress in recent years in determining the protein content of chromocenters, although it is not clear which DNA sequences underly constitutive ...

Acrocentric centromere organization within the chromocenter of the human sperm nucleus

Molecular Reproduction and Development, 2001
AbstractIt has recently been reported that in human sperm cells, the centromeres are clustered in a chromocenter in the interior region of the nucleus. The aim of the present study was to determine the intra‐chromocenter organization of the five centromeres of the acrocentric chromosomes responsible for the biosynthesis of rRNA.

Evolutional heterochromatin condensation delineates chromocenter formation and retrotransposon silencing in plants

Nature Plants
Heterochromatic condensates (chromocenters) are critical for maintaining the silencing of heterochromatin. It is therefore puzzling that the presence of chromocenters is variable across plant species. Here we reveal that variations in the plant heterochromatin protein ADCP1 confer a diversity in chromocenter formation via phase separation.

Nuclear matrix organization of chromocenters in cultured murine fibroblasts

Cell and Tissue Biology, 2010
The structural organization of the nuclear matrix of pericentromeric heterochromatin blocks (chromocenters) was examined in cultured murine fibroblasts. After 2 M NaCl extraction without DNase I treatment, chromocenters became extremely swollen and could not be recognized with conventional electron microscopy.

[The chromocenter structure in meiotic cells of Drosophila. Nonhomologous pairing].

Tsitologiia, 1993
The chromocenter is known as an integration of chromosome precentromeric heterochromatin regions. The squash technique was used for light microscopic analysis of chromocentral structures in Drosophila oocytes and trophocytes. The females displayed different structures of autosome 2.

[Nuclear matrix organization of the chromocenters in cultured murine fibroblasts].

Tsitologiia, 2010
In the current work, the structural organization of nuclear matrix of pericentromeric heterochromatin blocks (chromocenters) inside cultured murine fibroblasts was investigated. After 2 M NaCl extraction without DNase I treatment, chromocenters were extremely swelled, and it was impossible to detect them using conventional electron microscopy.

Genetic Control of the Formation and Reorganization of Chromocenter in Drosophila

Russian Journal of Genetics, 2001
The chromocenter integrates the entire Drosophilagenome into a unit. The formation and reorganization of chromocenter are genetically determined. Currently, several mutations affecting the structure of chromocenter have been described. In this work, I present evidence on the time of the formation and reorganization of chromocenter in mitotic and ...
