Synthesis of 3‐Chalcogenyl‐benzo[b]Chalcogenophenes via Chalcogenation/Cyclization of Alkynes Promoted by Selectfluor

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
A simple, mild, and safe electrophilic chalcogenocyclization reaction of a diverse array of alkynyl chalcogenoanisoles is depicted. The reactions are mediated by Selectfluor, as a stable, easy‐to‐handle, nontoxic, and safe oxidizing agent. Several 3‐chalcogenyl‐benzo[b]chalcogenophenes were obtained in moderate to excellent yields.
