A role for topoisomerase II alpha in chromosome damage in human cell lines [PDF]
Human response to ionising radiation (IR) shows a wide variation. This is most clearly seen in the radiation-response of cells as measured by frequencies of chromosomal aberrations.

Chromosomal aberrations 72 h after release from APH treatment. [PDF]
A: Frequencies of non-clonal chromosomal aberrations. B: Examples of pericentromeric chromosomal aberrations. Centromeric regions were identified by the centromeric constrictions, intenseDAPI staining and pan-centromere FISH (green).

Analysis of the results of amniocentesis performed at the University clinical centre of the Republic of Srpska [PDF]
Introduction: Due to its reliability and relatively low risk, amniocentesis is the most widely used method of prenatal diagnostics, primarily for diagnostics of chromosomal aberrations.

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Chromosomal aberrations and cancer [PDF]

Chromosomal aberrations in transitional cell carcinoma that are predictive of disease outcome are independent of polyploidy [PDF]
Objective To determine whether aneusomy for chromosomes 7, 9 and 17 (reported to predict recurrence in up to 65% of patients with superficial transitional cell bladder cancer and thus providing the opportunity for early and effective treatment) reflects ...
