The Size, Demography, and Distribution of Cambodia's Largest Elephant Population Revealed Using Traditional Genetic Tools and a Novel SNP Panel

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Asian elephant population parameters were assessed using microsatellite, SNP, and sex determination DNA markers. This represents one of the first studies in mainland Asia to demonstrate that integrating microsatellite and SNP data enhances genotyping success from degraded fecal samples, increases the number of useable samples and markers, and ...

Genomic Investigations Unveil the Genetic Underpinnings of Environmental Adaptation in African Goat Populations

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study integrates genomics and landscape genetics to analyze African goat environmental adaptation. Analyzing 1591 samples, it finds population structure differentiates geographically into four groups, with gene flow between wild Yura goats and North Africans.

Abortive recombination in Escherichia coli ruv mutants blocks chromosome partitioning

open access: yesAbortive recombination in Escherichia coli ruv mutants blocks chromosome partitioning
BACKGROUND: All the ruvA, ruvB and ruvC mutants of Escherichia coli are sensitive to treatments that damage DNA, and are mildly defective in homologous recombination. It has been reported that the ruv mutants form nonseptate, multinuclear filaments after low doses of UV irradiation, dependent on the sfiA gene product.

Metabolome Diversity Enhances Resistance of Intertidal Clams to Thermal Stress

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Meretrix species are widely distributed intertidal bivalves in China with significant ecological and economic importance, which are sensitive to thermal stress. Our results showed that thermal environments of clam habitats shaped metabolome diversity, which can enhance the resistance of intertidal clams to thermal stress.

Interventional oncology in children: Where are we now?

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
Abstract Paediatric Interventional Oncology (IO) lags behind adult IO due to a scarcity of specific outcome data. The suboptimal way to evolve this field is relying heavily on adult experiences. The distinct tumour types prevalent in children, such as extracranial germ cell tumours, sarcomas, and neuroblastoma, differ strongly from those found in ...
