Genetic susceptibility to aspergillosis in allogeneic stem-cell transplantation [PDF]
Invasive aspergillosis (IA) is a major threat to positive outcomes for allogeneic stem-cell transplantation (allo-SCT) patients. Despite presenting similar degrees of immunosuppression, not all individuals at-risk ultimately develop infection. Therefore,

Aims Voriconazole is commonly used to prevent fungal infections after haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Although its metabolism is influenced by CYP2C19 genetics and inflammation, their combined effect is rarely considered in clinical practice, and integrated analyses remain limited.

IL‐33 induces inflammatory gene signatures in eosinophils, characterised by the upregulation of cell surface markers, inflammatory mediators and regulatory factors, all of which were also observed in nasal polyp‐derived eosinophils. Ox‐LDL and complement fragments (C3a and C5a) promote eosinophil adhesion and survival.

Invasive Pulmonary Aspergillosis in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Exacerbations [PDF]
AbstractNowadays, reports in the literature support that patients with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are at higher risk to develop invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA). However, the interpretation of Aspergillus-positive cultures from the airways in critically ill COPD is still a challenge. Indeed, as the patient could be merely

Molecular Epidemiology of Aspergillus fumigatus in Chronic Pulmonary Aspergillosis Patients
Molecular fungal genotyping techniques developed and employed for epidemiological studies have understandably concentrated on establishing the genetic diversity of Aspergillus fumigatus in invasive aspergillosis due to its severity, the urgency for ...

An Update on Invasive Fungal Infections in Solid Organ Transplant Recipients
ABSTRACT Invasive fungal infections (IFI) remain a significant infection‐related complication in solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs), the incidence of which has not changed overtime. With a focus on studies and data published after 2019, this narrative review provides an update on the epidemiology and prevention of IFIs in SOTRs and highlights ...
