The Impact of Churn Labelling Rules on Churn Prediction in Telecommunications

open access: yesInformatica, 2022
One of the biggest difficulties in telecommunication industry is to retain the customers and prevent the churn. In this article, we overview the most recent researches related to churn detection for telecommunication companies. The selected machine learning methods are applied to the publicly available datasets, partially reproducing the results of ...

The Phenomenon of Policy Churn

open access: yesAdvances in Neural Information Processing Systems 35, 2022
We identify and study the phenomenon of policy churn, that is, the rapid change of the greedy policy in value-based reinforcement learning. Policy churn operates at a surprisingly rapid pace, changing the greedy action in a large fraction of states within a handful of learning updates (in a typical deep RL set-up such as DQN on Atari).

Bankrupting Sybil Despite Churn [PDF]

open access: yes2021 IEEE 41st International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS), 2021
A Sybil attack occurs when an adversary controls multiple identifiers (IDs) in a system. Limiting the number of Sybil (bad) IDs to a minority is critical to the use of well-established tools for tolerating malicious behavior, such as Byzantine agreement and secure multiparty computation.

Homelessness and Medicaid Churn

open access: yesEthnicity & Disease, 2021
Objectives: To identify ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes associated with the social determinants of health (SDOH), determine frequency of use of the code for homelessness across time, and examine the frequency of interrupted periods of Medicaid eligibility (ie, Medicaid churn) for beneficiaries with and without this code.Design: Retrospective data ...

Customer-Centric Decision-Making with XAI and Counterfactual Explanations for Churn Mitigation

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research
In this paper, we propose a methodology designed to deliver actionable insights that help businesses retain customers. While Machine Learning (ML) techniques predict whether a customer is likely to churn, this alone is not enough.
