Effect of probucol on plasma clearance and organ uptake of chylomicrons and VLDLs in normal and diabetic rats.

open access: yes, 1993
Probucol was given to rats made diabetic by streptozotocin. Compared with diabetic rats not receiving probucol or with nondiabetic rats, probucol lowered the plasma concentrations of triglycerides, phospholipids, cholesterol, and apolipoprotein B.

Influence of lecithin acyl chain composition on the kinetics of exchange between chylomicrons and high density lipoproteins

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1985
The kinetics of lecithin exchange between native lipoproteins was characterized for individual molecular species of lecithins of rat mesenteric lymph chylomicrons and rat plasma HDL. Studies were performed in the absence of lipid transfer proteins. Donor

The tissue distribution of lipoprotein lipase determines where chylomicrons bind

open access: yes, 2015
To determine the role of LPL for binding of lipoproteins to the vascular endothelium, and for the distribution of lipids from lipoproteins, four lines of induced mutant mice were used. Rat chylomicrons labeled in vivo with [C-14] oleic acid (primarily in

Size and shape determination of fixed chylomicrons and emulsions with fluid or solid surfaces by three-dimensional analysis of shadows.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
Chylomicrons and chylomicron-sized emulsions are spherical particles in suspension but their shape and apparent size may be distorted by electron microscopy processing.

Turnover of chylomicrons in the rat

open access: yes, 1995
Mechanisms involved in the clearance of chylomicrons and aspects of the interactions at the vascular endothelium were studied in the rat. The poly-anion heparin, known to release lipoprotein lipase (LPL) from the vascular endothelium, enhanced the ...

The surface coat of chylomicrons: lipid chemistry

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1968
Chylomicrons from the thoracic duct lymph of dogs fed corn oil were isolated by centrifugation and disrupted by either freezing and thawing or rotary evaporation and rehydration.

Effects of triacylglycerol and diacylglycerol oils on blood clearance, tissue uptake, and hepatic apolipoprotein B secretion in mice

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2007
Prior studies have suggested that FAs liberated in the small intestine from ingested 1,3-diacylglycerol (DAG) are inefficiently incorporated into triglyceride (TG) in enterocytes, with less chylomicron TG entering the circulation postprandially. We found

Hydrolysis of long-chain,n-3 fatty acid enriched chylomicrons by cardiac lipoprotein lipase

open access: yes, 1999
The hydrolysis of chylomicrons enriched in long-chain n-3 fatty acids by cardiac lipoprotein lipase was studied. In 60 min, 24.8% of the triacylglycerol fatty acids were released as free fatty acids.

Oxidized lipids in the diet are incorporated by the liver into very low density lipoprotein in rats

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1996
Previous studies have shown that the quantity of oxidized lipids in the diet directly correlates with the level of oxidized chylomicrons in mesenteric lymph and the level of oxidized lipids in endogenous lipoproteins such as very low density lipoprotein (
