Proteolytic activation of the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) involves cleavage of its γ subunit in a critical region targeted by several proteases. Our aim was to identify cleavage sites in this region that are functionally important for activation of ...

Reaction Engineering of In Vitro Natural Product Biosynthesis: Challenges and Strategies
The yield and turnover of in vitro natural product biosynthesis, and even its feasibility, are determined by intermolecular interactions. Reaction engineering allows to improve the performance of such complex biocatalytic systems. Natural products are widely used as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, or as active ingredients in food and cosmetics ...

Action of plant proteinase inhibitors on enzymes of physiopathological importance
Obtained from leguminous seeds, various plant proteins inhibit animal proteinases, including human, and can be considered for the development of compounds with biological activity.

LC-MS characterization and cell-binding properties of chelate modified somatropin [PDF]
Somatropin, a recombinant protein containing 191 amino acids, is derived from the endogenous human growth hormone, somatotropin. This protein is clinically used in children and adults with inadequate endogenous growth hormone to stimulate a normal bone ...

Peptidolytic enzymes in different larval stadium of housefly Musca domestica
Four classes of peptidolytic enzymes were described in insects. Many authors have found predominant activity belonging to trypsin-like and chymotrypsin-like activity.

ABSTRACT Post‐translational modifications (PTMs) to tubulin subunits in microtubule filaments are thought to comprise a component of the tubulin code that specifies microtubule functions in cell physiology and animal development. Acetylation of Lysine‐40 (K40) on α‐tubulin (αTub‐K40ac) and glutamylation of both α‐ and β‐tubulin are two tubulin PTMs of ...

Attempts to convert chymotrypsin to trypsin [PDF]
Trypsin and chymotrypsin have specificity pockets of essentially the same geometry, yet trypsin is specific for basic while chymotrypsin for bulky hydrophobic residues at the PI site of the substrate. A model by Steitz, Henderson and Blow suggested the presence of a negative charge at site 189 as the major specificity determinant: Asp189 results in ...

Unveiling the Potential of a New β‐Cyclodextrin‐Suxibuzone Conjugate in Proteasome Regulation
A novel β‐cyclodextrin‐suxibuzone conjugate enhances chymotryptic‐like activity of the 20S proteasome in a dose‐dependent manner. It remains stable and is internalized in SH‐SY5Y cells for 24 h. These findings suggest therapeutic potential for proteasome‐related disorders through targeted proteasome activation.
