A new platform for chymotrypsin isolation from fresh bovine pancreas using an environmental friendly polyelectrolyte: Alginate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The separation of chymotrypsin from a crude filtrate of fresh bovinepancreas homogenate was carried out using precipitation with acommercially available negatively charged natural weak polyelectrolyte:sodium alginate.

DNA‐Enzyme Hybrid Nanostructures: Functional Materials to Modulate Enzymatic Activity

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
DNA–enzyme hybrid nanostructures enable precise spatial and stoichiometric control over enzyme organization, offering a powerful platform to modulate catalytic activity. This review critically evaluates key mechanistic hypotheses, including proximity effects, microenvironment changes, confinement, and stabilization, as well as highlighting ...

Partial characterization of the digestive proteases and α-amylase of the larvae of the red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus [PDF]

open access: yesArthropods, 2020
Activity of digestive enzymes (trypsin, chymotrypsin and α-amylase) in soluble protein extracted from the larval gut of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus was studied using specific substrates and enzyme inhibitors.

Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.

Males are worse mothers: Comparing care patterns in a facultatively caring beetle

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Why should biparental care exist if offspring fare just as well when only one parent is present? In the facultatively dependent burying beetle, Nicrophorus vespilloides, manipulating environmental quality reveals that biparental care benefits offspring in form of lower personal immune requirement and parents in term of weight gain.

Asymmetric sulfoxidations mediated by α-chymotrypsin

open access: yes, 2002
The oxidation of aryl alkyl sulfides with H2O2 in aqueous solution is a reasonably facile reaction producing racemic sulfoxides. We show that in the presence of the hydrolytic enzyme α-chymotrypsin such a sulfoxidation is accelerated and, more ...

β-lactoglobulin peptides obtained by chymotrypsin hydrolysis

open access: yes, 2021
Objective: Whey proteins, as β-lactoglobulin, have biological activity. Controlled hydrolysis of this protein could generate peptides with some biological function.

Covalent drug discovery: Progress against key targets, emerging strategies and lessons learnt

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Covalent drug discovery is currently experiencing a boom in industrial and academic interest. To date, at least 75 covalent drugs have received regulatory approval, targeting both traditional target classes and more challenging proteins for which other approaches failed. In many cases, unique aspects of covalent targeting are essential for the

Chymotrypsin inhibitor activity in winged beans (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus)

open access: yes, 1984
Chymotrypsin inhibitor activity of winged beans (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) was investigated. Extractability of the inhibitors by aqueous solution increases with increasing pH.

Semaglutide Injection in Indian Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Randomised, Phase III, Active‐Controlled Study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity of semaglutide injection (synthetic) (Test group) compared with the Reference semaglutide injection [Ozempic, (Reference group)] in Indian patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
