Designed Biomaterial‐Enhanced Cell Transplantation for Neural Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
Biomaterials offer a promising solution for cell transplantation in the central nervous system by creating a protective environment that enhances cell survival, integration, and functional recovery in preclinical models of neurological disorders. ABSTRACT Cell transplantation therapy in the central nervous system is hindered by limited survival and ...

Deciphering vesicle-assisted transport mechanisms in cytoplasm to cilium trafficking

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience
The cilium, a pivotal organelle crucial for cell signaling and proper cell function, relies on meticulous macromolecular transport from the cytoplasm for its formation and maintenance.

Targeting the HDAC6‐Cilium Axis Ameliorates the Pathological Changes Associated with Retinopathy of Prematurity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is one of the leading causes of childhood visual impairment and blindness. However, there are still very few effective pharmacological interventions for ROP.

Dynamics of the Primary Cilium in Shear Flow [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2012
In this work, the equilibrium shape and dynamics of a primary cilium under flow are investigated by using both theoretical modeling and experiment. The cilium is modeled as an elastic beam that may undergo large deflection due to the hydrodynamic load. Equilibrium results show that the anchoring effects of the basal body on the cilium axoneme behave as

Volume‐rendered optical coherence tomography angiography during ocular interventions: Advocating for noninvasive intraoperative retinal perfusion monitoring

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
In ophthalmic surgery, intraoperative retinal perfusion assessment/monitoring has been suggested for numerous indications, typically using fluorescence angiography. However, applicability is limited given the difficult arrangement, associated risks and the lack of automated/objective perfusion quantification.

The primary cilium directs osteopontin-induced migration of mesenchymal stem cells by regulating CD44 signaling and Cdc42 activation

open access: yesStem Cell Research, 2020
The primary cilium acts as a sensory organelle with diverse receptors and ion channels to detect extracellular cues and regulate cellular functions, including cell migration.

A simple protocol to automate the executing, scaling, and reconfiguration of Cloud-Native Apps [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We propose a simple protocol for Service Mesh management. The protocol specification consists of the formats of messages, and the actions taken by senders and recipients. The idea is that microservices of Cloud-Native Application should be also involved in configurations of their communication sessions.

Retinitis Pigmentosa GTPase Regulator (RPGR) protein isoforms in mammalian retina:insights into X-linked Retinitis Pigmentosa and associated ciliopathies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Mutations in the cilia-centrosomal protein Retinitis Pigmentosa GTPase Regulator (RPGR) are a frequent cause of retinal degeneration. The RPGR gene undergoes complex alternative splicing and encodes multiple protein isoforms. To elucidate the function of

Direction selection of metachronal waves in hydrodynamic coordination of cilia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Large arrays of active cilia coordinate their beat cycles into metachronal waves. These waves can travel in different directions with respect to the cilium's beat direction and the resulting direction of fluid propulsion. Hydrodynamic interactions provide a mechanism for the individual cilia to coordinate their beat cycles.
