Summary Chronic stress, characterized by increased long‐term exposure to the glucocorticoid hormone cortisol, is increasingly linked to obesity development. Still, various knowledge gaps persist, including on underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. The aim of the current review is to provide the latest insights on the connection between stress and ...

We experimentally evaluated the effects of artificial lighting on mammal visitation patterns at waterholes in north‐central Namibia using motion‐activated camera traps across two dry seasons. Lighting had minimal effects on most species, although gemsboks increased use of artificially lit waterholes and lions reduced nocturnal activity at illuminated ...

Developmental photoperiodic exposure (photoacclimation) from egg to adult emergence alters thermal tolerance in Ceratitis capitata. Flies reared under contrasting photoperiods (0:24, 8:16, 14:10, and 24:0 L:D) showed significant shifts in both CTmin and CTmax, whereas adult‐only photoacclimation affected CTmax but not CTmin.

ABSTRACT Introductions of species outside their native range, such as pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) in the Laurentian Great Lakes, can serve as unplanned experiments that provide new insights into ecological adaptation. We synthesize available information on the understudied Great Lakes pink salmon invasion and highlight how this case can inform
