Structural Characterization of the S-glycosylated Bacteriocin ASM1 from Lactobacillus plantarum

open access: yesMagnetochemistry, 2020
In order to protect their environmental niche, most bacteria secret antimicrobial substances designed to target specific bacterial strains that are often closely related to the producer strain.

Isolation and Identification of Gas‐Producing Spoilage Bacteria in Wasabi Sauce and Effective Methods for Controlling Their Growth

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
Food package bulging, a prevalent spoilage issue in dairy products, beverages, and condiments, is predominantly attributed to gas‐producing spoilage bacteria. These contaminants originate from multiple pathways: raw material contamination, processing cross‐contamination, packaging material leaching, airborne microbial ingress, and inadequate control of

Synergistic Preservation of Mutton Using a Biodegradable Edible Coating Incorporating Lallemantia iberica Mucilage and Cell‐Free Supernatant of Lactobacillus helveticus C7303

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
A biodegradable bioactive coating was developed using Lallemantia iberica seed mucilage enriched with 1% and 2% cell‐free supernatant (CFS) from Lactobacillus helveticus C7303 and applied to mutton by dipping the meat samples. During storage at 4°C, the coating effectively inhibited microbial growth, including total viable bacteria, psychrotrophic ...

Microbiome‐mediated plant‐soil feedbacks as a tool for resilient agriculture

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
Translating plant‐soil feedbacks (PSFs) into reliable agricultural management requires shifting from input‐dependent practices toward endogenous, process‐driven crop resilience. To bridge this gap, we propose a predictive framework centered on three strategic interventions: engineering the crop holobiont, diversifying the soil habitat, and deploying ...

The Effect of Multi‐Strain Probiotics, Zinc and Copper on the Performance of Broiler Chickens Challenged With Clostridium perfringens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Our study showed that challenging broiler chickens with Clostridium perfringens reduced performance and increased mortality. Conversely, supplementing the diet with additives, such as chelated zinc, chelated copper and probiotics, helped mitigate the negative effects of C. perfringens.
