Time Course of the Dynamics of Cerebrospinal Fluid Circulation in Hypertensive Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesNeurologia medico-chirurgica, 1984
The dynamics of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation in 20 cases with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage was estimated with radioisotope cisternography (RIC) using In-111-DTPA. CT scan was performed simultaneously to observe the changes in the intracranial pathologies.

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Quasi-geostrophic shallow-water doubly-connected vortex equilibria and their stability

open access: yes, 2013
H.P. acknowledges the support of a NERC studentship. D.G.D. received support for this research from the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (grant EP/H001794/1).We examine the form, properties, stability and evolution of doubly ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Frazil dynamics and precipitation in a water column with depth-dependent supercooling

open access: yes, 2005
When seawater becomes supercooled, collections of small ice crystals, known as frazil ice, form and grow. A model of frazil ice dynamics is presented that deals explicitly with the buoyant settling of frazil crystals onto an overlying surface.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Unsteady draining of a fluid from a circular tank

open access: yes, 2010
Three-dimensional draining flow of a two-fluid system from a circular tank is considered. The two fluids are inviscid and incompressible, and are separated by a sharp interface.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Computational fluid dynamics study of yield power law drilling fluid flow through smooth-walled fractures

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, 2019
Presence of natural fractures in sub-surface makes an oil well drilling operation very challenging. As one of the major functions of drilling mud is to maintain bottomhole pressure inside a wellbore to avoid any invasion of unwanted high-pressure influx (

On the dynamics of the large scale circulation in turbulent convection with a free-slip upper boundary

open access: yes, 2022
In this paper we present a numerical study of the dynamics of the Large-Scale Circulation (LSC) in turbulent convection with a free surface. Our study is based on Large-Eddy Simulations of thermal convection in a cube with a heated bottom wall and a ...
