L1448 IRS3B: Dust Polarization Aligned with Spiral Features, Tracing Gas Flows

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Circumstellar disk dust polarization in the (sub)millimeter is, for the most part, not from dust grain alignment with magnetic fields but rather indicative of a combination of dust self-scattering with a yet unknown alignment mechanism that is consistent

Atacama Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope (AtLAST) science: Our Galaxy [version 1; peer review: 2 approved]

open access: yesOpen Research Europe
As we learn more about the multi-scale interstellar medium (ISM) of our Galaxy, we develop a greater understanding for the complex relationships between the large-scale diffuse gas and dust in Giant Molecular Clouds (GMCs), how it moves, how it is ...

Characterizing the dynamical magnetosphere of the extremely slowly rotating magnetic O9.7 V star HD 54879 using rotational modulation of the Hα profile

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 345, Issue 4, May 2024.
Abstract The magnetic field in the O9.7 V star HD 54879 has been monitored for almost a decade. Spectropolarimetric observations reveal a rather strong mean longitudinal magnetic field that varies with a period of about 7.41 years. Observations in the Hα$$ \alpha $$ line show a variation with the same period, while the Hβ$$ \beta $$ line shows only ...

Model for the circumstellar gas around alpha Orionis

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1981
Models are presented to explain the physical conditions in the circumstellar envelope surrounding the red supergiant Alpha Orionis. The models of the CO density and neutral atomic potassium density are calculated for the outer shell to reproduce simultaneously both the radio detection of CO and optical measurements of the amount of scattering by ...

ON THE GF-VALUES FOR SOME DIATOMIC MOLECULAR SPECTRA

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
In view of rich structure of the energy levels and the variety of transition types which are observable, molecules are the useful tool for investigation of physical parameters of stellar atmospheres, interstellar and circumstellar matter.

Isomerism of CH2SO: Accurate structural, energetic, and spectroscopic characterization

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 45, Issue 11, Page 777-786, April 30, 2024.
What is the next sulfur‐containing molecule that will be detected in space? Guided by the experimental data on the cis‐/trans‐HC(O)SH conformers, the structural and spectroscopic properties of cis‐/trans‐HC(S)OH have been accurately determined using state‐of‐the‐art quantum‐chemical approaches. Abstract A recent work [Ye et al. Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc.

NanoSIMS-Analyse und hochauflösende Elektronenmikroskopie an präsolaren Silikaten aus roten Riesensternen und Supernovaexplosionen

open access: yes, 2009
This thesis deals with the analysis of “presolar” silicates and oxides by high resolution mass spectrometry and electron microscopy techniques. This “stardust” was identified by its extreme oxygen isotopic anomalies, which point to nucleosynthetic ...

CIRCUMSTELLAR ACTIVITY OF THE HERBIG AE STAR HD163296

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2007
We present new results of a high-resolution spectroscopic investigation of the young Ae Herbig star HD163296. Nineteen spectra of this object had been obtained on May 8 - 10, 2002 at the ESO with the FEROS echelle spectrometer installed at the 1.52m ...

Are young supernova remnants interacting with circumstellar gas

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1982
The young remnants of galactic Type I supernovae (SN 1006, SN 1572, and SN 1604) appear to be interacting with moderately dense gas (n/sub O/> or =0.1 cm/sup -3/). If the gas in the ambient interstellar medium, the observations suggest that gas of this density is fairly pervasive.
