Cissus quadrangularis-Induced Thrombocytopenia in a Renal Allograft Recipient

open access: yesExperimental and Clinical Transplantation, 2020
An elderly male renal allograft recipient presented with thrombocytopenia. He had a kidney transplant for diabetic kidney disease and was on azathioprine and prednisolone. He had taken Cissus quadrangularis capsules for backache. A bone marrow aspiration to evaluate the cause of thrombocytopenia showed megakaryocyte hyperplasia, suggesting peripheral ...

New lignan glycosides from Cissus quadrangularis stems

open access: yesNatural Product Research, 2018
Phytochemical investigation of Cissus quadrangularis stems led to the isolation of one new phenolic glycoside (1) and two new lignan glycosides (7 & 8) along with twelve known compounds (2–6 & 9–15). Their chemical structures were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis using 1D, 2D NMR, and mass spectrometric analysis ...

Biotechnological Potential of a Novel Strain of Fusarium proliferatum, a Terrestrial Fungus Adapted to Marine Environment

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2025.
A novel strain of Fusarium proliferatum was isolated from South Calabrian coasts (Italy) and molecularly characterised. Its rice cultures led to the identification of secondary metabolites with antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes, and with antioxidant properties.
