Calcium phosphate flocs and the clarification of sugar cane juice from whole of crop harvesting

open access: yes, 2015
Sugar cane biomass is one of the most viable feedstocks for the production of renewable fuels and chemicals.\ud Therefore, processing the whole of crop (WC) (i.e., stalk and trash, instead of stalk only) will increase the amount of available biomass for ...

On the means for clarification in dialogue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The ability to request clarification of utterances is a vital part of the communicative process. In this paper we discuss the range of possible forms for clarification requests, together with the range of readings they can convey.

Fouling Mechanisms in the Clarification of 1,3-Propanediol Fermentation Broths by Membrane Processes

open access: yesMembranes
Membrane separation is an effective means of separating 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD) from fermentation broth. However, systematic studies on membrane fouling behavior during this process are still limited.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Clarification Dialogs: a tool for Question Answering disambiguation,

open access: yes, 2007
We present a Question Answering system that provides a natural lan- guage interface to Databases. Our system uses clarification dialogues in order to disambiguate the possible meaning of user questions in natural language.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Evaluation of mud filtrate clarification to improve factory performance

open access: yes, 2015
Clarification performance and flocculant dosage is\ud strongly linked to the mud solids loading in the feed entering the clarifier. The recycle of filtrate can represent an extra ~10-15% mud solids loading on the clarifier, thereby reducing its effective

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
