Gaining a Better Understanding of General Mattering Scale: An Application of Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Assessment Tools in Education, 2018
The current study shows applications of both classical test theory (CTT) and item response theory (IRT) to psychology data. The study discusses item level analyses of General Mattering Scale produced by two theories as well as strengths and weaknesses of

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Thermal-Safe Test Scheduling for Core-Based System-on-a-Chip Integrated Circuits

open access: yes, 2005
Overheating has been acknowledged as a major problem during the testing of complex system-on-chip (SOC) integrated circuits. Several power-constrained test scheduling solutions have been recently proposed to tackle this problem during system integration.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

The development and preliminary validation of a brief scale of emotional distress in young people using combined classical test theory and item response theory approaches: The Brief Emotional Distress Scale for Youth (BEDSY)

open access: yes, 2022
Reliable, valid, and brief measures are important for identifying young people in community contexts who experience mental health problems. This paper reports the development and preliminary validation of the Brief Emotional Distress Scale for Youth ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

The application of measurement theory to tests in mathematics: a study of the goodness-of-fit of rasch model to the alis mathematics test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The scores provided by the International Test of Developed Ability (ITDA) have been used as an alternative baseline for comparing the progress of students in the A-level Information System (ALIS) project of U.K.
