Optimization and Modeling of Slightly Acidic Electrolyzed Water for the Clean-in-Place Process in Milking Systems

open access: yesFoods, 2020
To find an environmentally friendly and energy efficient alternative to acidic detergent for a milking system clean-in-place (CIP) process, this study investigated the feasibility of applying slightly acidic electrolyzed water (SAEW) alone to wash the ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

The cooling of spent carbon anodes in the aluminium smelting industry : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Mathematics at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
As part of the New Zealand Aluminium Smelters (NZAS) upgrade, a hot butt cleaning system has been proposed, this would remove the bath from anodes as they are removed from the cells.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Removing Oxide Layers and Retaining Oxide‐Free Steel Surfaces by Polishing in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the efficacy of wet mechanical polishing under an oxygen‐free atmosphere for deoxidation and the retention of an oxide‐free steel surface are elucidated using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The methodology proved successful; however, the results were highly dependent on the preparation of the solvents used to clean the samples after ...
