We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The biological role of hemolymph lectins in Episesarma tetragonum
The hemolymph of the mangrove crab, E. tetragonum contains lectins specific for NeuGcα 2, 3 Gal β1-4 GluNAc β1 linkage and O-acetyl sialic acids. The role of sialic acid specific lectins on natural immunity of the crab is studied by using several kinds ...

Dual clearance squeeze film damper [PDF]
A dual clearance hydrodynamic liquid squeeze film damper for a gas turbine engine is described. Under normal operating conditions, the device functions as a conventional squeeze film damper, using only one of its oil films.

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Palynological investigations at hallowell moss near witton gilbert, Durham a history of man's impact on vegetation [PDF]
Hallowe11 Moss, near Durham, contains a continuous pollen record from about 3,700 B.C. until, probably, the present day. Having studied the history of the area, an attempt is made, with the assistance of radiocarbon dating, to correlate the vegetational ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
